BASEBALL: Dalton sets new NCAA mark with five doubles in Friday's 11-10 win over LeTourneau

MARSHALL, Texas (4/2/07) – East Texas Baptist freshman shortstop Aaron Dalton set a new NCAA Division III single-game doubles record with five two-baggers in Friday’s 11-10 win over LeTourneau at Young Field.

Dalton, a freshman from Nederland, finished the game with a 5-for-6 showing at the plate, with all five hits being doubles. His fifth double of the day set up the game-winning run in the 11th inning on a single by freshman teammate Johnny Cole.

Dalton had eight hits in the Tigers’ three-game sweep of LeTourneau over the weekend, with six of them going for doubles. In all, Dalton raised his season batting average 74 points over the weekend and now is second on the team among regular starters with a .324 average and team-best eight doubles.

Dalton and the Tigers play a non-conference doubleheader at Texas College on Tuesday before returning to conference action Thursday at Louisiana College in Pineville, La.
