Roy hobbs
Great win for the pirates. Must give credit to coach green and his staff. I wonder if Coach Gray had some inside information. Must be great for a legend to come home and beat his former school. Keep up the good work, and good things will happen.

KFDM COOP
Pirates stun Bears, 6-3Gabriel PruettThe Orange LeaderLITTLE CYPRESS — By Gabriel PruettThe Orange LeaderA five-run second inning was too much to overcome for the No. 7 Little Cypress-Mauriceville Battlin’ Bears as the Vidor Pirates came into Don Gibbens Field on a mission. The Pirates jumped on Bears’ starter Adam Leggett in the second and went on to win 6-3 in a key District 22-4A match-up.The win improves Vidor to 16-4 overall and 5-2 in the district standings. LC-M falls to 18-4 and 5-2 in the district loop. The Pirates and Bears are now tied for second in the district while Port Neches-Groves remained in first with a 11-9 victory over Dayton. PN-G is on top at 7-0 while Dayton dropped to fourth with a 4-3 mark.Things could not have started off better for LC-M as Leggett got the Pirates in order in the top of the first and Bears’ shortstop Kris Hearn put LC-M up 1-0 in the bottom of the first.Hearn took the third pitch he saw from Vidor starter Taylor Robichau over the left-center field fence. The next three Bears’ batters went down in order and then the wheels fell off in the top of the second.Chad Kennon led off with a walk and with one down Will Fontnow ripped a single to center and both runners advanced to second and third on a LC-M error.Jake Guidry then blasted a two-double to right field scoring both Kennon and Fontnow making it 2-1 Vidor. With two down, Brad Croak reached all the way to second on an error which also allowed Guidry to score making it 3-1.Robichau then cranked a full-count pitch over the left-center field fence giving the Pirates a 5-1 cushion.Leggett allowed the Pirates to put runners on second and first before getting out of the inning. The Pirate onslaught chased Leggett out of the game after he threw 40 pitches in just two innings giving up five runs, five hits and one walk to go with one strike out. Matt Johnson came into the game for relief. The four-run lead did not last long as Chad Richard, who was 2-for-5, followed in Hearn’s footsteps with a lead-homer, this one a monster shot to left field bringing the Bears to within 5-2.LC-M, which stranded 12 baserunners Tuesday night including eight in scoring position, put runners on second and third before Robichau got out of the trouble with a ground out.The Bears got their final run of the night in the fourth when Hearn, who was 2-for-4 with two runs, smacked a two-out single.Ben Jones then placed a double into right field and Jake Rowell, who walked twice, drew an intentional walk.Stefan Cloeren then drew a RBI walk plating Hearn from third and kept the bases loaded. Robichau got Richard to ground out back to the pitcher to end the threat. The Bears finally chased Robichau out of the game in the bottom of the fifth after the Vidor starter lasted 4 1/3 innings giving up three runs, six hits and three walks to go with two strike outs.LC-M could not score against Jay Nixon as he went 2 2/3 innings giving up no runs, two hits and one walk with four strike outs.Vidor picked up an insurance run in the top of the second as Trae Hester drew a one-out walk and took second on a wild pitch. With two on and two outs, Nixon laced a RBI single to center scoring Hester from second making the final score of 6-3.LC-M brought in Hearn to work the seventh for his first action on the mound this season in relief of Johnson. Johnson went four innings giving up one run, one hit, six walks and two hit batters to go with six strike outs.Hearn pitched a perfect top of the seventh on 15 pitches.LC-M put runners on first and second with two down in the bottom of the seventh but Nixon got Gunn to fly out to shallow left to end the game.LC-M returns to action Thursday when the Bears play host to the Central Jaguars.
