I am going to start out with Shug.  He is the most exciting, athletic, hard working player I have seen in a long time.

I should have narrowed it down to the most memorable players ever, not greatest.  I remember when I was young, PNG had a guy named Scott Young, he was called the bonzai guy or something, but he was really good.  Hyped the crowd up.

If we are to list the greatest, it would have to start with the only player in the football Hall of Fame in Canton from this area. Bubba Smith

Ernie Holmes from Wiergate, Texas. No.63 ,anchored the middle of the steel curtain for the Pittsburgh  Steelers. The high school was in Wiergate before moving the school down the road about 2 miles to Burkeville.
