So who are the top players participating in this showcase?  I only know of the guard at Morton Ranch, the tall guard at Dickinson, and of course the big guy from PA Memorial.

Probably leaving someone out but:

Wheeler- PG Houston Christian

Murphy/Hellums at Concordia

Cryer/Lampkin at Morton Ranch

Redus twins at Eisenhower

Mark PG at Dickinson

Lampkin for Morton Ranch is one of the best players in the state.  A young  Big Baby Davis.

For sure.  He plays with Clover from PAM, and another big from this area in the summer (along with Hefner from Nederland).  Fun team to watch.   Lampkin passes off the block about as well as I’ve seen any high school kid.

And Lampkin’s MR teammate LJ Cryer may be the highest rated player in the state in that class.  If he’s not, he’s close.  The Mark/Cryer matchup is probably the most intriguing in that slate of games.  Although the Memorial/Concordia game appeals most to me personally.

Lampkin will be pretty extraordinary when he sheds some of that youthful fat and becomes more muscular and athletic.  Already loaded with potential.  How is he from the line?

Better than you would think if you see his form :D  (Probably around 60 percent.)

And you’re dead on.  A collegiate strength and conditioning coach/dietician is going to do him wonders.  The kid works his tail off.

60% is pretty solid all things considered.  That'll improve as well.  And yeah gaining some muscle weight and foot speed will turn him into a high, high-level draft pick one day.  The transformation will be something to behold over the next few years.

Early impression, Yates isn’t as good as last year and will continue to struggle against superior guard play.  I would put silsbee as around a 10 pt fav against both of these teams.  Entertaining game though.   Yates leads 29-27 3 mins left in half.

Having said that, Yates would still be a prohibitive favorite to make it to Huntsville.  Not as talented as last year but way more athletic than any team they will face in their way to meet silsbee.
