BMTSoulja1
So Memorial just got beat and still haven't gotten even a vote. Crosby took a loss and are still ranked.. like I said, the AP polls have been horrible the last few years for SETX. And why does West Brook not even get a vote? AshlyHasBeen
I don’t think SETX has had a voter recently. AP has become outdated in my opinion by not splitting the classes. DCTF is more accurate. PN-G bamatex, j_dog and BMTSoulja1

Goblin
The preseason polls for both DCTF and the AP have been more accurate over the years than the final polls believe it or not. I agree DCTF is more accurate. DCTF is decided by a very small group of guys who know the entire state and the cons and pros of most teams. The AP is generally voted by #1: name recognition/the usual suspects/who's done the best recently in the past few seasons and #2: who has the fewest losses. WO-S should make it to the 3rd round of the playoffs without a hitch before they have to meet Jasper a second time (if they both win their districts as they should) but no way would the AP vote for a 3-4 team. Don't rely on polls. Sometimes it's good to be floating under the radar. Nederland will get a target on them very soon if they beat Crosby. The AP pretty much looks at past semifinalists and undefeateds who've blown out every opponent. PAM hasn't gotten out of Region III in over a decade. Nederland's undefeated and no votes for them either in the AP. I guarantee if they beat Crosby they'll jump up there.
Uncle Pig
I mean let’s be honest; outside of WOS and Newton, what setx team has been relevant here over the past few years...and I’m talking at least regional final appearance relevant ace2335
BMTSoulja1
It shouldn't even be about past accomplishments. It should be what's going on now... Pig, the debate you're bringing up is debatable but not relevant here, IMHO... tvc184

BMTSoulja1
Also, why is Woodville not ranked... Or even receive a vote? Woodville is very good... Woodville4Ever and chefkland76
Bulldogs92
There was a time that it felt like SETX football was the best in the state because there were a lot of teams capable of making really deep playoff runs. I think people have forgotten about most teams in the area because the same few programs are always making the most noise come playoff time. They're looking at Jasper as an upstart based on the voting, but they're not really paying attention to what's going on there. I agree with Soulja. Woodville's getting the short end of the stick, too. j_dog, BMTSoulja1 and chefkland76

Because it's the same story every year go through a decent schedule and get to the second round compete for a half and get blown out because they can't throw the ball or stop the pass. Lions Pride 2021
The sports desks at the Enterprise and the News need to get an AP vote. Call the sports editor and complain to him/her. Much smaller papers have votes. And a lot of it is on name recognition. Until then teams like Woodville, East Chambers, Nederland and West Brook will be ignored. Bob West and Rush Wood would have made sure the area was represented. Sadly both papers are woefully understaffed. BMTSoulja1

My bigger point is that both papers are woefully understaffed and voting for a poll can get lost in the shuffle. Both papers used to cover the Texans Astros Rockets and the Big XII. I know it's a different world with Internet, but for papers with their circulation sizes they don't have enough staff to cover what they need to. I have the same gripe with the chronicle. When I travel to South Oklahoma and look at the Morning News and Star Telegram, they have outstanding coverage. If you want better representation in the AP poll the local papers have to do better.
