one thing is for sure,if needed these last three games you will see more weaons on offense,in the likes of hiltz, lewis, roccaforte, grusecki, broussard, good luck to any defenses trying to cover them all at once!!

All them all state DB's going to the offense. No one could ever cover them. Season is over just hand them the state championship.

The Nederland offense isn't averaging 40 points a game. It is averaging 32 points per game, and the bulk of that is skewed by lopsided victories over two of the worst teams in the district (Dayton and Lee) and a 33-point performance against a bad Beaumont United team.

Nederland's offense, if you take out Dayton, Lee, and Beaumont United (that is, if you look at Nederland's offensive performance against the teams on the schedule that are doing well) averages 22 points a game. I'm including WOS, Silsbee, BH, and Santa Fe -- These are teams that are in the mix in their districts.

Tellingly, against potential playoff teams in our district, Nederland averages 24 points.  They are not exactly running people over offensively. They are solid, and they are clearly the favorite in the district, but there are vulnerabilities that Vidor can take advantage of. Vidor is down, but Vidor's offense has been getting on the board.

In games against Crosby, PNG, BH, and Santa Fe (all in the running for playoff spots) Vidor has averaged 28 points per game, which is more than Nederland's average against potential playoff teams. Even if we include Nederland's victories against far weaker teams and take the season average, Vidor's offense is putting up more points than Nederland's (34 vs 32). Further, I think we can all agree that Vidor's district run has so far been against tougher opponents than those faced by Nederland (PNG, Crosby, BH, and Santa Fe, as opposed to Lee, Dayton, BH, and Santa Fe). Against overall tougher competition, Vidor is scoring more. Against common opponents, Vidor is scoring more.

Granted, Nederland won its games and Vidor lost them. My point is that Vidor is not a pushover and the Pirates will put points on the board. Nederland will have to bring it to keep that perfect record intact.

That solid shut down PNG defense though, how points are they allowing a game? Asking for a friend.

Since the Nederland offense is lucky and so bad and only plays bad teams, can we get some stats on the vaunted Indians defense that is obviously really unlucky and good and only plays elite district offenses?

I think my original post has been misunderstood. I never said or implied that Nederland has been lucky. I just looked at what they have done against the opponents they have faced, and compared it to what Vidor has done. Nederland is a good team. No one has argued otherwise.

Just in case anyone is curious. I really, really do not like Nederland. Except after MCM then I really, really want to see them do well in the playoffs, represent the area.

I'm similar -- If I'm in town during the playoffs and Nederland is still alive in the playoffs, I try to be at the games cheering for them.

The only time i pull against Vidor is when they are playing my Indians.  Although I would love to see Vidor win this game, it will make the Mid county madness that much sweeter to take the district championship at home in front of our fans.  Vidor good luck, Dogs we will see you at the reservation, oh and clean the trophy up for us because it is coming home.  Cherokee playing all night long.

Well said lol ... The starters on defense for Nederland bulldog have only gave up 17 points a game and the starting offense have been scoring average of 40 points a game, so somehow Vidor is going to be able to shut down our Offense and then score on our defense not going to happen remember their 0-4 in district

Nederland 1st team D has given up 12.57 points per game. Vidor offense will come out & put that to the test Friday

Well Nederland has beat two of the teams that Vidor has lost to so far.  Good enough for me. :)

It’s a good thing for PNG fans the trophy didn’t start until 2014.

    • I have no issue with that however…. Rick Perry, although seemingly not really popular even with Republicans, was almost impossible to beat. The Texas conservatives just needed that tough, real conservative with an already popular voting base. Someone that has been elected to both Texas state office and federal office.  Boom! In 2010 in steps Kay Bailey Hutchison, a popular sitting US Senator and former Texas Treasurer. So she has been elected, statewide in both a state political position and nationally as a senator. A Rasmussen poll in 2009 showed Hutchison with a 40% to 38% lead over Perry. She had high profile endorsements as did Perry. Hutchison was endorsed by the likes of G H W Bush, Nolan Ryan, Roger Staubach, etc. If people are actually going to listen to endorsements, those are some fairly well thought of people in Texas. Primary day was between Perry, Hutchison and Debra Medina. Hutchison was beaten by Perry 51% to 30% and he got enough votes to avoid a runoff. Obviously, that has no bearing on today. It does show that just because a person is very popular and already elected to national office from Texas such as Kay Bailey Hutchison, it does not ensure a good showing in the polls against an incumbent. It will be interesting for sure.
    • WOW what a game. just got home, I'm gonna sleep with a big smile all night. PNG QB passes were spot on tonight, lil #17 freshman receiver had huge catches at critical times in the game. # 44 had a couple of huge catches including the 'jump pass' on 4th down for a touchdown.  #4 made big plays at key times on both sides of the ball, he is a beast. #11 played his usual consistent game with big time catches and a couple of good punts and a good job of just falling on a bobbled kick reception. #27 probably had 125 yards or so rushing. The defensive backs did a good job, bending but not breaking including the interception in the end zone. I thought the TH coaches messed up not trying to score with the high power players they have when they got the fumble right before half with 45 seconds or so on the clock and 3 TO left, if they would have scored then it would have broke our backs. I know it was 90 yards to go but they could cover the field in 3 or 4 plays. This is one of the most exciting wins in PNG's long history of exciting wins. Oh yeah kudos to the fans for getting in to the game at key times and in my Opinion making a big difference. 😂
    • To the 41 individuals that picked TH…..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Round 4 here we come!
