If anyone gets on here and questions Hefner ability as a player he shouldn’t be allowed to ever type in the forum again . That kid is a big time player in al facets of the game

Also If anyone guestions that English isn't as good or better coach than Boutee shouldn't  be allowed to post on this board as well.

Both are SETX coaching greats for good reason.   I think there’s a difference between someone making an argument that Boutte  is the best coach in the region and someone implying Hefner isn’t THAT good.  It’s night and day different.  One is arguable, the other is asinine.

(And by the way, he’s probably not at the top of my coaching list either but he certainly has a resumé where you can make that case.)

I agree, i wasn't trying to compare the two but a good opportunity to bring up the coaches. I've just heard a lot of Bmt folk give English grief for years. IMO he does more with less than any coach in the area. I think there was only 1 time where these two have played each other where English had the most talented team, and English won both times they faced that year.  IMO WB had a more talented team tonight but English has the best player and we seen how that played out.

English is fantastic.  If someone is arguing he’s not, that’s the Hefner argument, i.e., asinine.  If someone is arguing Boutte or Sutherland or Sigler is better, that’s a matter of opinion.

True and all coaches need some type of talent to be successful .

Very true.  I have found Brian English to be thoughtful and innovative.  I think he would be very successful with many different types of personnel.  Some coaches, as you well know, have a certain style which takes a certain type of player to fit.

Coach English has also always been incredibly generous with his time and seems to have a genuine “thirst” for the game.  That is to say, like all the great ones, he is constantly a student of the game and is always willing to talk and listen to ideas about it.  I also believe he genuinely cares about the kids and I know he continues to try and help former players and even kids who aren’t a part of his program.  Nederland is incredibly blessed to have him and I think they have a fan base that realizes it.

I asked a question before and got no answers or replies.  I wanted to know how Boy Wonder 2.0 (Hefner) did in that Bridge City game this year.  So I just knew Bridge City had some kind of defensive juggernaut in order to stop BW 2.0 from winning that game...

If you read that thread, you would know he had 33.  I will also say having been at that one, he had at least 10 boards.  But he was literally scoring at will as you would expect.  Might could have had a triple double but didn’t get a lot of help that night.

Edit:  and would have been 35 or 36 (depending on the FT) but for the single worst call I’ve seen in a basketball game to date this year (in the 25-30 games I’ve seen).

I understand and makes a lot of sense.  But you'd think that you shouldn't need much help to beat Bridge City because...  Well, they're Bridge City...

If its gonna be that kind of season, then the two Meetings vs. PA Memorial will be rough...

The jealousy from Bmtsoulja is next level.  Nobody cares for your jealous opinion of Hefner.  I will take Billl Kennedy’s, Lon Kruger’s, or Kelvin Sampon’s educated opinion over your Bmt bias & pitiful envy of a very talented Nederland kid.

Great team effort from the Dogs tonight.  More big things to come.

Memorial will be a solid favorite in both.  The Barbers Hill-Nederland games will be interesting.

Sounds like he had similar games against Bridge City and a West Brook team who just played a very good matchup with Silsbee.   Wonder what could have been different?

And by the way, I can list 3 guys in the last 2 seasons who played on mediocre teams from the greater Houston area that are 1) in the NBA now, 2) will be next year, and 3) arguably the best player on an SEC team.  Not saying Hayden is those guys but point is even some great players don’t make every team they play on great.
