Turf Fields in SE Texas??

Recommended Posts

Great article by Jdawg. It's amazing that no School in SE Texas has Turf. I can see BH getting it eventaully with the growth there. There has been talk of Silsbee getting it. In Beaumont is was brought up one time at a School Board meeting about building a new Stadium at Ford Park with Turf for all the Beaumont schools to play on but that fell through with the Money problems Jefferson County has. WOS is pushing for it but doubt it will happen either.

PNG considered turf as part of a new stadium in a bond package. The stadium was later removed from the package and was substituted with minor stadium repairs to get another decade out of the stadium.

The bond has been temporarily delayed to see what the legislature is going to do about school finance.

I observed probably 90% of those bond meetings. I'd like to see the stadium package put back in the bond.

5 years makes a huge diference! How many have field turf now? I can think of three off the top of my head, but I know there is more..

2A Hardin has had turf for years. I hear their school buildings still have blue hurricane tarps on them, but fancy turf covers their "house of pain" (or whatever they call it) field.

It looks like Nederland and WO-S will be attempting bond issue elections again sometime this year to go in that direction.

I don't think either will pursue turf in their upcoming bonds

    • Virginia has same day voter registration. A person can literally walk in to the voting location, register and then vote. So they premised that Virginia might be stopping people with a legitimate right to vote is nonsense. From what I gather in the news report, assuming that the ones I have read are correct, the people that were removed, filled out a drivers license registration and marked that they were not an American citizen. Could the person have made a mistake by checking the box incorrectly? Although unlikely it is certainly possible. That same person who was removed can go into the same voting location where he would have voted and again, complete a voter registration and then vote.  That went into the Supreme Court’s decision.  If such a person votes by registering on election day, he fills out a provisional ballot. Provisional ballots are not originally counted and or not counted unless needed. For example….  Statewide there are 500 provisional ballots cast. A person wins the election by 4,000 votes. That would be no need to count the provisional ballots as it will not matter. That let’s say there are 5,000 provisional ballots in the state. One candidate wins the election by one 1,500 votes. In that case, the election could definitely swing on those provisional ballots. The state will then investigate each person to make sure they live at the correct address listed, and that they are in American citizen. If these things are correct, the vote will then be counted. Safe Harbor is not untillll…… I think December 17th this year so there will be six weeks to verify the provisional ballots if needed. The purging of the names of people who checked a state form saying that they were not an American citizen, will not stop that same person from voting.
