I think East Bernard’s style of play was what kept the game close.

Imo Newton was not  prepared for east Benard and they hit them in the mouth, they better be focused this short week or Canadian will do the same. Newton will struggle with the short to medium pass that Canadian Throws very well, defense will have to pressure the qb every snap.

Newton's D front is tenacious. Nobody in 3a is blocking that. That said I do think "Air Canada" will find a way to put up points.

If Newton doesn't have a better offensive strategy than what was displayed against EB then they might be unpleasantly surprised this week.  "Get the ball to the athlete" and out athlete everybody may have worked for pretty much all season but I don't know if that's enough anymore.

Newton needs to rely on a quick hit pass, run set-up.  Deep throws will be rushed by the hard charging Canadian defense.  Get the ball off & out quickly & let that speed run!!!  That said, Newton's boys will be in the right mind set when they play this state title game.  TIME TO FLY EAGLES!!!

IMO EB was the ultimate sleeper team this year. Nobody saw them coming. When a poll says  95% favored Newton to win that is telling.  EB coaches had an excellent game plan, and their kids played it to perfection. Most of the homers were saying how smart and hardworking they were, and that proved to be right. It would not surprise me that the coaching staff had been working on a game plan for Newton all year it was pretty obvious Newton was the team to beat. Knowledgeable people have said what really hurt Newton was the EB linemen were not taking the bait on pulling guards and tackles. They. Held their positions, made the play thus hampering Newtons running game. (An over simplification) 

By the second half Newton coaches figured it out and began to make adjustments. I've said before, EB had the strangest offensive scheme I have ever seen, and keep in mind it was all new to Newton. The perfect storm you might say.

After all is said and done, Newtons offense came through in the end. Those kids made a final game winning drive that proves what a Silsbee player said of this team in their game. "We held them for 2 quarters, but they just kept coming at us". But I will tell you, I am worried that this team has been hurt in the area where Canadian is the strongest, without Brown.

However I have said all along, the championship is theirs to win , it all depends on how bad they want it. It is up to them.

I believe Newton will be fine as long as they keep focus then they should win. I want them win with that group special same as WOS 2016.

He was back in the lineup.  Someone posted a tweet supposedly by him making a statement like he was done, no reason injury or otherwise.

I was told he didn't play in the State Simifinal game because he was sick all last week.

Is their nobody here thats actually in the know? Or is this a big secret so Canadian doesn't know what to prepare for? In my opinion Tamazia is a 2-3 touchdown advantage. Maybe 2-5
