KFDM COOP Posted June 2, 2007 Author Report Posted June 2, 2007 One thing is for sure - the Golden Triangle will have a representative at the 7-on-7 state tournament. The Titans of Port Arthur Memorial emerged from Pool C, containing Manvel, Stafford and Pasadena Memorial. They will meet District 23-5A and local rival Beaumont West Brook in the semifinals after the Bruins cruised through its pool with Katy Taylor (already qualified), Klein Collins and Strake Jesuit. Houston Chavez won Pool A over Baytown Lee (already qualified), Bellaire and Alamo Heights of suburban San Antonio. The Lobos will face Channelview, victors of Pool B comprising Cy-Creek, Friendswood and St. Pius. The Lobos could be a sleeper in the 7-on-7 state tourney, and they are hoping for the first winning season in the school's 11-man football history this year. This enabled the Falcons, former 23-4A opponents of the Mustangs, to fly over the competition. Manvel, which begins varsity football in 2008, is getting tuned up to launch the new Mavericks program in northern Brazoria County.
