D-villefan Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 What workout you think is the most important for getting ready for football?Power clean and squat.
Guest Yard Bird Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Power Clean. Don't over look the benefits of plyos and core work. Strength is essential, but explosion is deadly.
stang4life Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Straight-leg dead lift! My son says it is essential for speed? :
semperfidelis Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 yoga works all!!! but for real though leg extensions and leg curls will get you faster and make you cut harder
Zoneblock Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Powerclean - squat - trackstraightleg deadlifts are good for speed not only does it lengthen the hamstring it also makes it stronger.
bevo Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 All depends on your position. But striaght leg-dead lift is very underratted. Very few people really do it and it is one of the best for your legs and speed.
stang4life Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Straight-leg deadlift (if not done properly) can cause the hamstring to snap the ischium (butt bone that we sit on) if you're not careful. The fracture mimics a hamstring injury and usually is misdiagnosed as such delaying healing. Just FYI for those athletes who do them.
PURPLE 4EVER Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Although not in the prime of my youth, the most strenous yet best exercise I have done is hopping up hills or stands on one foot. Nothing increases your heart rate like this and it is excellent way to increase your speed. If your knees start hurting lay off of this.
stang4life Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 I don't know that I could hop DOWN a hill or stand on TWO FEET! Roll...maybe! Hop...no way.
ItsMeSnitches Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Running bleechers, hills, dead lift, powerclean its all essiential if you wanna get bigger stronger and faster
SilsbeeD Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Straight-leg dead lift! My son says it is essential for speed? :Speed...no way...You would be so much better off doing powerclean or squat or leg press.
stang4life Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 I don't know...just going by what he says and obviously it has helped him! ;D
Lucky Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Buns of steelDon't forget about the thigh-master !
BigPurpleMan32 Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 anyone who has ever played knows HIPS ARE ESSENTIAL. They are where all explosion comes from, and they help you stay low and gain all kinds of leverage.we always did hurdle work, powerclean, snatch, and lows box squats for our hips...and i think the strength i gained from these exercises made all the difference
D-villefan Posted May 5, 2007 Author Report Posted May 5, 2007 Power clean and squat is the most important dumbell lunges and shuttles are good also!
Guest Raider911 Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 There are 20 or so guys at lumbeton that can power clean over 225. 2 or 3 are at 285
SilsbeeD Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 I don't know...just going by what he says and obviously it has helped him! ;DTrust me...dead lift didnt help his speed. It was prolly one of the other work outs he did.
hj_hawk_60 Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 bleachers, running (preferably miles), and powerclean...
Guest Raider911 Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 bleachers, running (preferably miles), and powerclean... Runing miles isnt going to make you a better football player, but i do agree with the power cleans and bleachers.
CodyLB34 Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 If I had to go with just 1 workout it would be squats
hj_hawk_60 Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Runing miles isnt going to make you a better football player, but i do agree with the power cleans and bleachers.well it gets u in good shape... and if u do bleacher miles its pretty good..
