It needs to be done nationally to keep the playing field level. State by state increases are more problematic.

“It needs to be done nationally to keep the playing field level”  -  Sorry, but if I understood you correctly, that’s one of those liberal “sounds good” statements.  The person that makes $300 in San Francisco is not going to get the same bang for his buck as the person in Silsbee who makes $300.  That said, I’m also strongly against most infringement on States Rights.  I support any States right to legalize marijuana.  Why our Fed Govt hasn’t declassified it, is another good talking point for less Govt intrusion.  And after 60 years of being anti-marijuana, I’ve given up the fight.  Like prohibition, mj laws do not, and will not, work.  Imo, All States should legalize it & take the Cartels out of the equation.

Btw, read an article yesterday that States that legalize mj have had a 14% (or 16?) reduction in opioid use.  And according to the experts, mj is much safer than opioids.

Got a source to cite on that? I’m going to do a little research of my own. If you’re going to use Venezuela as your socialist model all the time, don’t forget to mentionthe corruption, and dictatorial leadership leading to ineffective governance.

Why don’t you check out Norway for a much better example of a functioning social democracy. I mean, even Trump wondered why we couldn’t get more people from Norway to immigrate than from third world countries. Duh. They don’t want to leave.

I'll start with this:  One lead to the other.  Socialism, communism and dictatorship, all the same.  Always fails.  You didn't know that revenues almost doubled to the treasury because of Reagan's tax cut?  I guess they don't teach that at UT.  You can look it up or I'll post the facts about it.

Seriously?!  With the exception of the military, which IS Constitutional, what has the government done right?  Everything that I'm aware of is either bankrupt or going bankrupt!  They can't even get the post office right.  Losing billions and billions every year!

From the article:  "... the government’s budget numbers show that tax receipts expanded from $517 billion in 1980 to $909 billion in 1988 — close to a 75 percent change (25 percent after inflation),” Moore wrote."  So -- the reason for the increased deficits are because of spending.  It always has astounded me that liberals think they can spend my money better than I can!  We are in trouble because we spend to much not because we tax to little.  Not hard to understand!  And, seriously, you are going to compare the United States to Norway?!  Geeezz!!

If Norway is the best model, why has no other country replicated it?  wonder what the cost of that great program is without considering taxes?

BTW -- Hitler was a dictator.  His Nazi party was officially called: "The National-Socialist German Workers Party."   the qute below kind of sounds like the present day Democratic Party!

Government policy is an important piece of the correction. How about some rules easing access to private capital for small business startups and expansion? I’m old enough to remember when you could walk into Silsbee State or First National bank and with a good idea and good reputation borrow $15k, 25k, something like that, on a handshake and signature, with the decision made by people who lived here and knew the community. Now those decisions are made by people you won’t even see. They’re in Alabama or Dallas or somewhere that only knows Silsbee because there’s a branch there. Those consolidations have screwed small business growth in small communities. Both parties passed the regs allowing it, but big banking interests wrote the legislation, and as a country we could, if united, get some rewrites done on some of those type laws. I’m telling you, Citizens United decision hurt the power of the vote a lot more than gerrymandering or voter I’d laws.

Mr Dodd & Mr Frank wrote the legislation that changed all of that.  What party did the represent?

If everyone making hamburgers has to, yeah. Prices may rise some, but I’d rather pay more for a burger when the money’s going to wages than I would pay more for a car because of a tariff (euphemism for tax).

There will be self order kiosk and robotic burger flippers before that happens.  Your staff of 50 turns into a staff of 20 employees with 30 unemployed.

I’ll leave it to the Supreme Court to interpret the scope of powers enumerated in the Constitution.

The largest percentage increase in debt occurred during Reagan’s tenure-the tax cuts didn’t pay for themselves, we did. The OMB estimates the last round of cuts will add a trillion to the debt in 10 years. Don’t blame it all on “bloated ineffective programs”.

As for healthcare, why do all other industrialized countries spend about 10% of GDP on healthcare while we spend north of 15% with overall outcomes not any better?

Why leave it to the SC, it’s laid out very clearly.

Too many folks assume they are just too ignorant (not dumb) to understand the Constitution...without ever even reading it.

As far as the healthcare mess, you’re proving my point.  The fed gov is not capable of efficiently managing the program.  But for some reason you seem to want the same folks creating the mess to be the ones to fix it.

Classic lefty handbook material...yes, we broke it, but we’re the only ones that can fix it.

It started after the savings & loan crash in early eighties. Dodd Frank just latest iteration. Both parties do the banks’ bidding.

It started with our leaders deciding that, in order to make society more "inclusive" and let more people realize "the American dream" they were going to make it easier to buy a home.  Got way out of hand and the results prove that.

Who funded the “original” wall? It has been there for awhile. Why, all of a sudden, the hatred for a border wall? Like I said, there is one in place. Can anyone answer this?

I think it is because this is all we have to argue. The issues at hand would be losable arguments for the left. Othere things that were argued have gone by the wayside....

Trump/Russia collusion

Trade

Korea

Kavanaugh and Gorsuch have been sworn/opposition and accusers have vanished into thin air.

isis

immigration bans

What have I left out?

Nobody answered my post. I guess because there is no logical answer. No stance, just opposition. What a platform.

Obviously Trump and yall  are so focused on this wall because yall think with a  physical barrier, its going to deter people from climbing over , digging under it , etc.  People will always find new ways to get around barriers. Look at your history, even old Stephen F. Austin found

This question could only come from you. Unbelievable. The original wall needs continuation, patching, and electrifying (that one is on me).

You failed to answer the question of who funded the original wall. Imagine that.

When it comes to public works (i.e. infrastructure), defense, environment, social programs, and other work for the public good, I say yes.

What defines “enough” varies from individual to individual, but the key word in that post was “selfish”.

UT, If the Postal Service was eliminate, how worst off would we be?

I guess you you’re proud to have as president a man who is barred in the state of New York from having anything to do with non-profit organizations. That rates pretty high on my sleaze-o-meter.

Also, isis defeated? Give me a break. Trump/Russia collision still up in the air. Korea? I think they’ve started building missiles again. Kim Jong Un played him like a cheap ukulele. Trade war is nothing but a series of import taxes on the American people. What’s your point on Kavanaugh and Gorsuch? They’re on the court, so what? He’s done hardly anything he promised, he just keeps saying he has over and over and over...

Pretty brief comment.  Are you telling me that the reason so many people defaulted on their home loans is due to some inadequate documentation?  I am quite anxious to discuss that complete scenario with you.

That’s the best example of how irresponsible the banking system became during the frenzy.
