Guest BALLPLAYER Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Who is the best all around coach?
batterup Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 This thread should be fun to read as it develops. It is probably like asking a group of grandmothers who has the cutest grandchild. If a kid is starting on a winning team, that coach is the best. If the kid is starting on a losing team, the coach is an idiot. If the kid is sitting the bench on a team win or lose, the coach should be fired.
Guest airitout123 Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Not everyone who disagrees with a coach has a child on the bench. Some adults are smart enough to gauge how well a coach performs. Anywho...the coach at LCM does a good job of developing his players and sending them to the next level. The coach at Jasper seems to do well also.
mekih Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 How would you rate a coach who takes a kid who hits 400+ before district starts then "improves" his swing mechanics and turns him into to .050 hitter? He turns the kids mind onto stuff to think about except hitting the ball!. The kid has no recourse but to try to do things the coaches way or he'll be set down. If he keeps doing things the coaches he can't perform and his poor performance will cause him to be set down!!! Great coach or poor athlete?? Poor coach or good athlete turned into a bad one. This game is very much mental.
rhino1877 Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 Two extremely good coaches are Jay Stone and Steve Griffith. These guys have shaped up baseball in this area. But you cannot leave out any coach in this category...... Kip McFarland does a good job at OF. And what about Coach Bryant at BC???? He is a good coach. There are several more that I could name, but the list would be extemely long!
Ty Cobb Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 This is a tough one... I would have to say a guy from the early 90's Lou Brown He went from managing 'Tire World' to managing Cleveland to a League Championship  "I'll have to call you back, I've got a guy on the other line about some white walls." Lou Brown's comment when asked he if wanted to manage the Indians.
DP#1FAN Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 Everybody knows who Lou is. I love what he does to contracts!
use2baplaya Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 I was thinking it was between Griff and Nederlands coach, because he lost a whole team and is battling for another district championship. Griff showed tonight " Who Be The Man".
ESPN Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Green at Vidor does a great job. I think next year they make the Playoffs.
Will11 Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 1. Griffith year after year 2. Stone 3. Robbins 4. Ozens coach, sorry cant remember his name. 5. Green
BigTuna Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 "you may run like Mays, but you hit like s@#t, every time you hit the ball in the air you owe me twenty push-ups!" classic flick
bigred75 Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Major league....................................great movie
J Rock Posted April 14, 2006 Report Posted April 14, 2006 Griff is an outstanding coach and is set to show all of his kids to the next level
onebaseballguy Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 Griff may be a good coach but he does't utilize his players very well, he has and had great talent. He has a great player on his team he won't play because he signed a football scholorship. He throws 88-89 from the hill along with 3 other pitches with good control. He covers the outfield like a blanket, great range at 1B and swings a hard bat, crushed CF at Central about 420.
FanOfTheGame Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 Coach Griff gets my vote 9 and 0 in one of the toughest districts in the state. Great Job Coach
Bears Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 That one player has never hit 88 or 89 this year or last year, now can he pitch? Yes But he does not throw that hard at all.
PLAYTIME Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 Hard to argue Griff. Good program year after year.
bearbacker09 Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 onebaseballguy, I do not remeber Chris Boozer hitting a homerun at Central. He is a good player and would be a starter for most teams in the district, but I think some of your stats might be a bit off.
batterup Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Griff may be a good coach but he does't utilize his players very well' date=' he has and had great talent. Win or lose, if a player sits the bench, he/his parents think the coach is an idiot or can come up with some other excuse that johnny is not playing (like he already signed a football scholarship). I'm sure if Coach Griff thought he could help in the line up, he would BE in the line up. He wouldnt be the first player to sign a football scholarship and still play baseball. Want an example? Look up Billy Ford or Anthony Bandiero. If johnny "crushed CF at 420" against Nederland or PNG I might be impressed, but I still wouldn't second guess someone that is coaching an undefeated team in 20-4A. Bearbacker- Chris Boozer didn't play football, if that helps you narrow down who onebaseballguy is referring to.
NeDeRlAnD b-DoG fAn Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I think Coach Robbins of Nederland. He coached a good team last year that went undefeated and is doing a real good job with this rebuilding this year's team
uniden Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I think Coach Griff at LC-M is doing an excellent job. The player that onebaseballguy might be referring to is kyle hughes. Ive seen him play and hes not bad, but looking at lcms starters it would be tough to get in that lineup.
FanOfTheGame Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Coach Griff must be grinning, having that much talent sitting on the bench, there starters must be remarkable. I guess that's why there 9-0. Must be nice to have that much talent on one team. Unreal
Guest BALLPLAYER Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Coach Griff is an excellent coach and you can tell he cares alot about his players.
