BH85 Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Approximately two weeks ago, a family in Mont Belvieu experienced a tragedy. Arnold Peters was involved in a horrible head-on collision where the other driver lost his life. Arnold was lifeflighted and remained in ICU with serious injuries in addition to temporary kidney dialysis, a chest tube, and a breathing tube. He has broken more bones in his body than I can count and has barely been able to undergo the first of many surgeries to clean wounds, place a rod in his leg, and a plate in his arm. Kay, his wife, has spent most every day and night at the hospital since Arnold’s accident — except for the evening that their daughter attended her senior prom.Arnold and Kay have been tireless volunteers for so many community functions in Mont Belvieu and beyond. Either one of them would very willingly give anyone in need the shirt off their backs. And now, the community wants to give back to them and their wonderful daughters. On Saturday, May 12, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament (which will include numerous age groups from young to old) will be held at the Old Gym in Mont Belvieu in order to raise funds to allow us to give back to this family. There will be girls, boys and coed brackets. There are quite a few high school girls teams already signing up. stang4life Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 How tragic. Thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Peters, his family and friends. Is there any other way to make a donation if someone is unable to attend the basketball tourney?
BH85 Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 thanks stang4life. There is a fund setup at Barbers Hill Bank in Mont Belvieu or you can contact [email protected] who is helping to collect.
BH85 Posted May 14, 2007 Author Report Posted May 14, 2007 Thanks for everyone's support. Benefit went well. We had over 55 teams ranging from 3/4th grade up to Men's division. We raised over 11K. Arnold Peters is still in Critical Care ICU but hopefully this will help some on the homefront. Thoughts and Prayers are still needed to help him get through it.
