AggiesAreWe Posted February 27, 2019 Report Posted February 27, 2019 Since Silsbee dropped a classification in 2005, the Tigers have now made the Region III tournament 11 times out of those 15 years. They have made the regional final 9 times in the past 14 years, winning the region 5 times out of those 9 regional final appearances. A win Friday night will make 10 regional final appearances in 15 years for Silsbee. Here is the list of the past 15 years: '05 Regional Final (lost to Diboll) '06 Regional Quarterfinal (lost to WO-S) '07 Regional Final (lost to Hardin-Jefferson) '08 Regional Final (defeated Hardin-Jefferson) '09 Regional Semifinal (lost to Jasper) '10 Regional Final (defeated Hardin-Jefferson) '11 Area Round (lost to Sealy) '12 Regional Final (lost to Waco La Vega) '13 Regional Quarterfinal (lost to Houston Yates) '14 Regional Quarterfinal (lost to Houston Yates) '15 Regional Final (lost to Houston Sterling) '16 Regional Final (defeated Navasota) '17 Regional Final (defeated Houston Yates) '18 Regional Final (defeated Houston Yates) '19 have advanced to regional tourney I will do some more research but I'm pretty positive no area coverage school has this kind of record in the last 15 years. AggiesAreWe Posted February 27, 2019 Author Report Posted February 27, 2019 Kountze has made regional tourney 9 of the last 15 years, making regional final in 7 of those trips, winning 4 regional titles. The Lions seem to be the closest to Silsbee in this 15 year span. Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted February 27, 2019 Author Report Posted February 27, 2019 Beaumont Ozen has 6 regional tourney appearances in these 15 years, with 3 regional finals, 2 regional championships. Hardin-Jefferson has 6 regional tourney appearances with 4 regional finals, 2 regional championships in these 15 years. Quote

Wow. That’s one amazing run the Tigers are on. Just wow Quote
BADSANTA Posted February 28, 2019 Report Posted February 28, 2019 Great run and hopefully another state championship for 2019! Quote
JimThorpe Posted February 28, 2019 Report Posted February 28, 2019 Since Silsbee and Hardin Jefferson are there so often and usually with decent crowds it might save overall driving miles to hold the Region III 4A tournament at Lamar. Quote

BH85 Posted February 28, 2019 Report Posted February 28, 2019 They must be using deflated balls like the Patriots. Incredible run and hopefully another successful San Antonio visit at the end. BADSANTA 1 Quote

At one point in time Lamar University and the local officiating chapter was trying to get a regional tourney here. 5A or 4A was the target classification. Since that time (about 12 years ago), Lamar has shown no interest in being a host site. Quote
