HDBobcats9 Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 I heard the Mitchell kid was a super Athlete. Yeah he was special. All-State football and basketball as a junior, then had a horrible knee injury early in his senior year and never recovered totally.
WVU Fan Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 I've only been in the area since 1990, but the best QB I've seen in person down here is James Brown of West Brook. Beasley probably #2 with Chip Ambres #3 and then Dustin Long. I'll also through in Michael Bishop. I saw him dismantle a pretty good LCM in'94.

Gasilla Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I knew you would be the first one to say Beasley Kerry. Why would Beasley be any more ridiculous than D. Long?
Gasilla Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Vince Young is far and away the best high school player I have seen at any position. I was at that 61-58 game too. Had you traded the quarterbacks' date=' and given Vince to North Shore and given Willie Gaston(a good high school qb in his own right) to Madison. North Shore would have won 80-10 had they wanted. You could have stuck Vince on Houston Reagan or Vidor or Houston Smiley and they would have been a threat to win a state championship. I don't think some people appreciate how horrible that Madison defense was. Courtney Lewis was good on offense as were a couple of their receivers, but it was typical HISD team other than that. They had poor fundamentals and despite having a little bit of talent, they would not have been above .500 had they not had Vince. Put him at the helm and they are a few plays from the state championship. Other than him, Drew Tate, Ell Roberson, Odell James, Ced Cormier, James Brown, Chip Ambres. PAJ had a guy that i liked. I can't remember his name. He was there when Lendon Henry was there. His name might have been West. I always thought hewas a productive qb for high school. Beasley of course is great. I seriously said when I saw him that if he were 3 inches taller, he would be one of the top ranked qb recruits. His passing was pretty good if you ask me. He of course had excellent quickness. I'd put him right there with Drew Tate tied for second place. But both are light years behind Vince Young.[/quote'] Beasley was 115-202-11 for 1943 yards... I really wouldn't call that "weak".
Gasilla Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Why would Beasley be any more ridiculous than D. Long? oops... nevermind...
KFDM COOP Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 You could put Beasley up there with Young. A friend of mine in Austin that talks with the UT coaches alot said they have told him that.
jdawg03 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Stephen McGee from Burnet... Manuel Johnson....Gilmer
Gasilla Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I've been told the same thing coming from the UT camp. They've also thrown around the idea of putting him back there. I doubt it will happen, but it's a testament to his ability.
KFDM COOP Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Maybe they'll throw him back there in a game where they have a huge lead or something.
KFDM COOP Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Stephen McGee from Burnet... Manuel Johnson....Gilmer McGee will see some playing time this year.
kicker Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Maybe they'll throw him back there in a game where they have a huge lead or something. That would be awesome to watch!!!
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted August 3, 2006 Report Posted August 3, 2006 1. Reggie McNeal---Lufkin 2. Ricky Mitchell--Jappa Texas...lol 3. James Brown--WB 4. Drew Tate---B-town Lee 5. Nick Nixon---SFA
shorttexas1 Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 I guess none of you characters ever heard of Chip Ambres! By far the best out of this area.... running or throwing
shorttexas1 Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 1998 Westbrook... I am Central all the way but he was just the best!

WOS95 Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Todd Dodge? sounds fimmiliar...i think thats the name of southlake carroll's head coach am i right? yup, thats southlake's coach and former PA thomas jefferson QB.
OrangeCountyBulldogFan Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Monte Barrow, Todd Dodge, Stumps (Both), Long, Hood, Sullivan, Beasley, Ambres...give me any of these guys. But Long, Hood, Barrow, Dodge were the smartest I think I've seen.
OrangeCountyBulldogFan Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 You could put Beasley up there with Young. A friend of mine in Austin that talks with the UT coaches alot said they have told him that. Coop...then why do they not have him in that position????
KFDM COOP Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Don't know? We'll see on down the road maybe.
WOS92 Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Coop...then why do they not have him in that position???? Well, the fact that he's 5'10 doesn't help his stock as a college QB. If he were taller, I'd put him up there w/ Young. I had the chance to see Young play in HS and their styles were very similar. In college, he'll be much more of a weapon catching the ball, returning kicks and defending the pass.
