Hagar
I’m totally confused at the apparent insanity going on. All the events being canceled, colleges closing. The numbers are constantly changing, but earlier we had 1,300 cases, which is a whooping .0004%. And we had 37 deaths, which include 14 from a Nursing Home, the most vulnerable age group. That’s a whooping .00001%. The reactions don’t equal the reactions. Perhaps a month from now, all these things will make more sense (although I hope not). Do the Powers that be know more than we know? Do they know it’s much worse than what we’re hearing? Time will tell.

baddog
Well, here in SE Texas, we are used to having 2-3 feet of water in our homes, no electricity, no drinking water, neighbors in boats checking to see if we are alright, being relocated until the water goes down, then starting all over again. So don’t tempt us with a two week self-quarantine with power and water, the ability to shower and watch tv, it would seem like a vacation. All of this nonsense of no toilet paper, water, canned goods, cancellations of events, no freedom to roam about.....all seems like a Bernie Sanders trial run. Do the Powers that be know more than we know? Do they know it’s much worse than what we’re hearing? Time will tell. I really don’t think so. I think “we” have done this to ourselves. We have instant access to all media. Facebook gives us all, no matter how smart, educated or the lack of both we possess, the opportunity to bitch and piss and moan about the inequities of life. And sometimes, when we are lucky, we get to have an event that really gets our juices flowing. This time, we call it COVID-19. We used to call it the Wuhan Virus, but that made it sound like Asians caused it. Wouldn’t want to upset a specific class of people. If we had named it “White American Male” it probably would have been ok, but I digress. So we are all getting sick, we are all gonna die. I’ve got the solution! Let’s go buy dry beans and every bit of asswipe we can lay our hands on! After all, if all we can eat is pintos & dried fruit for a while... we better really stock up on the asswipe!!! WE, US, OURSELVES...That’s who we have to blame. If you’re sick, stay home. If you’re elderly, stay away from places where you could get sick. Wash your hands. Cover your sneezes and coughs. But leave the pallet of Aquafina and Charmin alone. Leave the kids counting on auctioning their livestock for college money alone. Leave our FRIGGIN STOCK MARKET AND MY RETIREMENT ALONE!!! But we can’t. We won’t. I bet it gets so bad that they close the casinos. Good lord what then... Hagar

TxHoops
I don’t listen to Rogan religiously but he’s a pretty conservative podcast host who, according to one of my son’s, has one of the most popular podcasts out there. I do occasionally see a clip that I’m interested in and obviously this was one of them. . Hagar

SmashMouth
Still a GROSS overreaction at this point. Why do they cancel an outdoor baseball game that may attract less than 100 people including players, coaches and fans AND it’s played outside, but they’ll keep 1200+ kids locked up in the school all day breathing the same air. Frickin idiots.

Kountzer
The next big thing may not be a pandemic. It will probably be something else like a economic meltdown or a war or rumor of war.

If my wife and I are quarantined for two whole weeks and I die, I can assure you, right now, it wasn’t the virus that killed me. TxHoops
Whenever we get past this isn’t a big deal (which it could or could not be depending on where your bar is set), this is a really cool explanation of “flattening the curve.” Quarantines and event/school cancelations aren’t about trying to prevent the spread of the virus, it’s going to happen regardless. It’s about trying to slow the spread so our health care system can handle it (see Italy for what NOT to do).
