Nederland 1957 State Championship Team

I am hearing (not confirmed) that the 1957 team will be honored at Ned's homecoming.  I am also hearing that Bum Phillips will be attending.

Still the greatest era for Nederland football... although you guys have made quite a run over the past decade....  Nederland's late '50's dynasty makes a top 5 showing on 18 out of the 20 time windows and is top 10 in all of them. This is comparing over 50 programs across southeast Texas (past and present)....

Pretty much. In the days when you had to win the district championship to go to the playoffs, Nederland went 16 times in 29 years. From 1937 to 1965 Nederland was the representative more times than all of the other district foes combined, 16-13. In that time frame Nederland went to the final game three times, winning one state championship.

From 1953 to 1965, Nederland was the district champion 11 times in 13 years.
