JASPER BASEBALL

  I was fortunate enough to attend the state baseball tournament last week in Round Rock.

  After watching Jasper completely destroy Abilene Wylie and then defending state champion Texarkana Liberty Eylua all I could think was..... WOW.

  Jasper did all this without the benefit of having their number 1 pitcher take the mound.

  For those of you who havent been luckey enough to witness Shawn Mixon's Bulldogs in action, if you get a chance next year, by all means go see em play. His players have been taught to play the game the way it was intended to be played. It's 100% from the time they hit the field. From pre game on it was a treat to watch.

  They demolished Wylie with two out hits and agressive baserunning. Then in the championship vs Liberty Eylua it was more of the same on the basepaths plus pounding the ball by #'s 1-9 in the lineup.

  What a GREAT job by the ENTIRE Jasper Baseball Team and their coaching staff.

  Great job Shawn. Your team was a total reflection of you

Yes it was very satisfying to watch if you were a dog fan.  Those game were full of things to cheer about and very little suspense outside of whether we could 10 run rule or not.

You should have been sitting with Shankbear, Swampdude and me!  We filled the time rifling through the record book to see which record Jasper could break next!  8)

I think we willed Jasper to the 14th run.  ;D
