Will he be able to win with the Larry’s and Joes in wh?

More importantly....Will he be able to find coaches willing to work 60-70hrs per week for $30K per year in a district with a volatile school board?  The last guy had lots of issues finding coaches willing to work for that amount of money.   WHISD has a pay scale that will ensure that they will never keep a coach.  The minute a coach turns that program around he will leave for more money.

Who is working in GCCISD for $30K per year? A first year teacher, with no coaching stipend, makes $55K per year.

You can say what you want about GCCISD, but pay is not an issue.

i think that was in reference to west hardin

It's not about x's and o's. Its about Larry's and Joe's.

GCM was short on the Larry's and Joe's when they gave up lots of points to New Caney, Kingwood Park and Porter.

Well WH has nothing but hard working superior athletes with a great school board also.

Well they have zero Larrys and very few Joe's.

What’s crazy is we pay good money for that pay...and then most tell kids to go to college in order to be successful and smart like them

Most people that work at places like west Hardin are hometown folk...it’s more important to them where they live than where they work

Is it important to them that their kids eat?

You misunderstood me there chief. What does their kids needing to eat have ANYTHING to do with where they work??

Are you assuming that these teachers are supporting their family on their teacher salary alone?  There is a likelihood that they also have a working spouse.

Lolol not all my friend. Those salaries are a joke.

That is true.  There is a likelihood that they have a working spouse.  But, trying to get good coaches in West Hardin is going to be tough, when you can only offer 40k for a 10 year vet.  What things can an AD say to persuade someone with genuine experience to go there and work?

I agree that they're a joke.. but it still stands true that each teacher in the district is more than likely not the only person putting a paycheck into the bank.  A female teacher making 40K so she can work at the school her kids go to with a husband that might work in a chemical plant making.. I dunno.. $30/hr can probably provide a pretty good life for their family.  Even if they have a husband/wife combo working at the school... $80K/year between the two of them is enough to not starve. I personally know guys that make that much and their wife doesn't work.. what's the difference?

There isn't a way to persuade someone with genuine experience to go there and work.  I'm sure they get a lot of young coaches, coaches at the end of their career, or maybe someone having a hard time finding a coaching job anywhere else.
