jmspears3 Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 SENSATIONAL SHERRY HAS PASSED"Sensational" Sherry has passed away at the age of 49. The cause of death is unknown at this time.Sherri Russel (known in the wrestling industry as Sherri Martel) had been in the wrestling business since the 1980s. After being trained by the Fabulous Moohlah, Sherri Russel made her debut in the AWA in the early 1980s. In a long feud with Candi Devine which started in 1985, Sherri became the AWA Women's Champion several times.During the 1990s, Sherri worked in WCW and ECW, taking part in numerous feuds. Sherri renamed herself 'Sensational Sherri' upon arriving to WWE, where she became Women's Champion several times before managing future Hall of Famers such as Ric Flair, Ted DiBiase, "The Heart Breakkid" Shawn Michaels, and “Macho Man†Randy Savage. It wouldn't be until Wrestlemania 21 in Chicago, IL. before Sherri was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by “Million Dollar Man†Ted DiBiase. In her thank you speech, Sherri spoke with immense enthusiam and genuine love for the business, reminding all generations why she was "sensational". My deepest condolences go out to Sherri's friends, family and the WWE family. The top-female manager will truly be missed.
