KFDM COOP Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Track standouts, Amanda King and Clerc Koenck, on Academic All-Southland BEAUMONT - Lamar University track standouts Amanda King and Clerc Koenck were named to the Academic All-Southland Conference team Monday,capping a season full of honors for both athletes. Koenck, an exercise science major, posted a 3.76 grade point average while running cross country and indoor and outdoor track for the Lady Cardinals. She won the SLC cross country championship and took home dual honors as the league awarded her the Outstanding Track Performer and Athlete of the Year, in indoortrack and repeated as the conference champion in the outdoor 1,500-meter run.King, a psychology major, posted a 3.22 GPA while also running cross country and indoor and outdoor track for the Lady Cardinals. She set an SLC record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:16.99 and was the only Lamar track athlete to qualify for the NCAAChampionships. The all-academic team honors student-athletes who were selected all-conference and/or named as a national all-academic recipient this year while also earning at least a 3.00 GPA. Remaining spots on the all-academic teams were then voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators.
