Not sure where Desmond is at these days. I do know this, he is the only athlete that has come through Silsbee that was district MVP in both football and basketball his senior year. That's pretty impressive to me. Probably one of the best athletes to ever come through Silsbee.

Doss was definitely a freak.  To me he is the sole reason for that undefeated regular season.  He made the qb look good with his amazing catches.  He definitely took some folks out of the defensive box allowing the running game to exploit some holes.

Now the Kicker part looks Better...

Randy Matthews was the best QB that I have ever seen at Silsbee.  I do not ever remember Craig McGallion playing d-line.  I thought he started a in side LB for 3 years.  I know he beefed up and played nose tackle at UH, or I thought.  Either way he would make this list.  McGuire was good but only played one year due to injury his Senior year.  He played JV as a soph.

Good lists though, especially seeing names like Skinner and Hunter.

What about Willie Jones??? Should he make the list?

Posted

That was my question and what about Jason Mathews?  Come on 10 years in the league ought to count for something.  Looks like this is a pup that does not know some of the history.

Clinton Derouen over three-year starter and two-year all-district OL Andrew Havens '06?  I think not.

Yes you have to put Dronnett on there.

getdown may be a good name for you, because you are way off on some of these names.  If James Freeland is not one of the WR's then Wayne Guidry must be.  Bradley Peveto played in the secondary at SMU, but he couldn't crack your list????  Todd McManus has to be on there as either O,D, or Special Teams.  Robert Cormier was an All-State OL that played at McNeese St. Chris Taylor would definately be considered since he had about 8 or 9 INT's with a cast on his arm.  I can understand a few of these left off the list, but Bradley Peveto is a no brainer.

This is probably not a good thread....everyone has their opinion as to who the best is and some would be indisputable.....but unless you want to take the chance of stepping on toes???

There have been ALOT of very talented athletes to grace the fields of Kirby Memorial and Tiger Stadium.  And my hats off to all the athletes to ever grace the football field in good ole Southeast Texas.
