I just checked - a hundred pounds of $100 bills is $4,900,000.00.   I guess the suitcase could have had bearer bonds, or simply some money and a cashiers check.

I had a bearer bond once.  No wait - it was a $25 Savings Bond.  Cest la vie, lol.
