The good news, the Trojans were able to finish 3-3 in district play which was good enough for 3rd place in District 11-3A-I. The bad news, the 3-8 season mark was certainly nothing to write home about. But there will be change in Coldspring this year as Ken Stanley, who is no stranger to Southeast Texas having previously been the offensive coordinator with a head coaching stint in Hemphill, takes over. Stanley will start out with a veteran squad as ten offensive starters and eight defensive starters return from the 2018 squad to return the Trojans to the playoffs. Head Coach: Ken Stanley Assistant Coaches: Austin Ridell (Associate AD/Offensive Line), Rock Stanley (Assistant Head Coach/Defense), Brad Greene (Offensive Coordinator), Shane Lothman (Defensive Coordinator), Greg Devers (Safeties), Thaddeus Gordon (Cornerbacks), Thomas Kelleners (Backs), Conner Cox (Defensive Line) Offense: Ten starters return to the Coldspring-Oakhurst double wing offense in 2019. Competing for the Trojan quarterback spot will be senior Jeremy Hardin, Kyhrin Roger and Cole Woodruff. Sharing the rushing load will be junior running backs Tae Parker, Trevor Vaughn and Greg Terry, as well as senior Darvin Lynn. Look for running backs Eddie Brown, Curtis Parker, and Tae Rucker, as well as fullbacks Bobby Bishop and T.C. Chambers, to contribute to the Trojan rushing game. Lynn will also see time at wide receiver and figure in the Trojan passing game along with tight ends Jerimah Oyer, Dante Eldridge, Zalan Williams and Joseph Lemmon. Seniors Jayden Whitten and Vincent Rankin will be joined on the offensive line by juniors Cameron Burlison and Caleb Monroe, as well as sophomore Hayden Richardson. Expect Hunter Thomas and Javon Terry to also see time on the offensive line. Defense: Eight starters return to the Coldspring-Oakhurst defense in 2019. Richardson, Burlison, Rankin, Monroe, Whitten and Eldridge all return to contribute to the Trojan defensive line. Williams and Lemmon will also contribute at defensive end with Thomas and Terry seeing time on the line. Vaughn (2nd team all-district) and Harden (2nd team all-district) will lead a linebacker group which will feature outside linebackers Parker, Woodruff and Brown, as well as Chambers at inside linebacker. Rucker and Jarred Curry (both 2nd team all-district) will anchor a Coldspring secondary which will also Lynn, Roger and Parker. Special Teams: Harden (2nd team all-district) will handle the place kicking and punting duties for Coldspring-Oakhurst while Lynn will be the primary kick returner.
