This is the problem Republicans step in. They can do things like that when they are in power, but complain when Democrats do the same. What do you expect? Another great example was McConnell blocking Obama from appointing a Supreme Court justice, saying there was an election coming in a year and the people should decide. But when asked now, "if an opening occurs on the Supreme Court within the next year, would you wait for the election like you did with Obama?" and he says, "No we'd fill it." What do you think is going to happen down the road? I mean really? That was no conservative Republican...there are very few of them left. Quote

The Republican Party had no issue labeling Bush a conservative. Revisionist history doesn't help either. Also the fact that McConnell's hypocrisy was skipped is quite telling. Quote

I liked Bush as a person, but he was another big spending insider...I was saying it when he was in office. You could definitely call what McConnell said hypocrisy, I sure wouldn't argue that, but I think some of the Republicans are realizing you have to battle Dems using their tactics. I got no problem with this one if it puts a conservative on the SC for years. Defeat the socialists, that's the new goal I hope. Quote

I don't know...is Obamacare a tax or penalty...you can call any gov program a tax...that's who pays for it. The best definition of TARP is a bailout to clean up a mess made by Democrats...it's something that is always going on. You answer a question...do you stand by your statement that TARP is no different than taxing Wall Street for free college? Quote

However, you and I have a disagreement on what a tax is. You seem to think TARP wasn't a tax, I think it was. Thankfully the vast majority of the "conservatives" you posted above agree with me. As far as Obamacare, I think it definitely is a tax, and was complete garbage. I know plenty of liberals as well as conservatives that hated it. And there was no spin. A liberal saying let everyone else bail out a college kid is the same as a "conservative" saying lets bail out a suit. Quote

Can’t confirm that though. Bernie finally admitted that all his free stuff will require the Middle Class taxpayer to bend over and take it in the kister. He may be a Communist kook, but when pressed, at least he’s honest. Had one of them say he planned to give every adult in America a thousand dollars a month. Can’t imagine how many votes he got with that proclamation. I passed out and went into a coma after he said it, so I missed the rest. When I came to, I found some reruns of Mr. Ed for some intellectually stimulating viewing. baddog 1 Quote

A liberal saying let everyone else bail out a college kid is the same as a "conservative" saying lets bail out a suit. No, TARP wasn't a tax. It was a giant expenditure of taxpayer funds, but it wasn't a tax. The "penalties" for not proving that you had healthcare coverage was a tax, despite all of the lingual gymnastics trying to prove otherwise. Tax cuts don't work without spending cuts. Without spending cuts you just run larger deficits like the 1.6 T we're heading towards for this year. The problem is this... Dems say "raise taxes and we'll give everybody more free stuff." The Republicans say "we'll cut taxes and the economy will improve." The only problem is that both sides refuse to do anything to combat their collective out-of-control spending and our debt is going to be the end of our nation. Anytime somebody mentions curbing spending, all they know how to do is shut down National Parks for the week and hold up income tax refunds. The thing is this... we can't fit 7.5 billion people inside our borders and give them all a place to live, free healthcare, free college, free food, and monthly stipend, regardless of what those 20 people have promised over the last two days. We can't even afford to give that to all of the people who already live here. Free healthcare isn't a right. You have a right to travel freely about the country. You don't have the right to a free car and free gas. Somewhere along the way we've confused what "rights" really are. We can't even provide affordable health insurance to people who are trying to pay for their own because people who try to pay for their own end up subsidizing all of the people who believe that somebody else should take care of them. We have the right to bear arms.... I wonder how many of those on stage over the last two days would support a movement to provide free weaponry to anybody who wants one? baddog, LumRaiderFan, Hagar and 1 other 4 Quote
