BMTDAD Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 We played Buna tonight and beat them 8 to 4. It was a hard fought game. At the end of the game are girls made a tunnell for the Buna players to run through and were chanting we are proud of you, but thay refused to run through. I understand that these kids are young and are upset abought loosing, but we as parents need to teach are kids about sportsmanship.
MrsT12 Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Been here ..had this conversation...this is what I was told. Some teams do not see the "arch" as good sportsmanship. They feel it is insulting. Rubbing it in their face that they lost. I was that mom that was mad because the other team went around. Just thought I'd share what I learned. Buna is generally a very pleasant yet competitive crew. Maybe your team could think of an alternative. But you'll never make everybody happy.
cma123 Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 yes, I agree to a point. Our team played Buna and Silsbee in regular season ball. Silsbee did it to us, the girls really didn't like it, but went on in to their dug out. It may be in good intention, but when you lose a game sometimes you just want to shake hands, good game and get away from the other team. ( Not have them follow you to your dug out and sing to you ) On the other hand, we also played Buna in regular season and a coach, one of the same for the 9-10 year olds all-star team, seemed to like to play dirty ( told her player to run over our short stop if she got in her way ). That didn't go over good at all w/ our coach. Coaches w/ bad attitude, bad sportsmanship, and dirty play is passed to the players.
