Apollo Landing 50th Anniversary 7/20

There’s a great story on FB of a local contribution to the Apollo 11 Mission.  John Hirasaki, an Engineer and Vidor/Lamar Graduate, was in NASA’s Landing and Recovery Division, responsible for procedures on recovery of the capsule, and more importantly, protect the people of earth from any foreign bacteria.  Four of the team volunteered to enter the Mobil Quarantine Lab.  John drew the short straw.  He spent 21 days in the Lab with the crew of Apollo 11.  Here’s a link for those of you on FB.   There’s a pic showing John in Quarantine with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.

This is the hidden content, please

PS; I graduated with John’s sister, Ida Hirasaki.   She was our class Valedictorian.   The family had a farm on the SE side of Vidor.
