crazy_cajun02 Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 what's the water condition in sabine? has the rain got you guys screwed up too?
PNG Proud Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 It's been hot and cold. So far, the rain hasn't hurt us. Not really enough to make a difference.
BIGDADDYDAVEHJ Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 Nah I dont think that its rained enough to make a difference in the lake, maybe up in bessy heights or futher up in the neches river it has
crazy_cajun02 Posted July 2, 2007 Author Report Posted July 2, 2007 I knew i should have made the drive over there this weekend. I settled for east bay saturday and conroe saturday night.
crazy_cajun02 Posted July 17, 2007 Author Report Posted July 17, 2007 East bay I ended up with a few craoker , plenty of hardheads, and a UFO. I was fishing mainly with artificial but had some shrinp on as well. East bay was thick with shrimp up in the marsh flats don't know if they still are but the reds should be moving in anytime after them.
crazy_cajun02 Posted July 24, 2007 Author Report Posted July 24, 2007 well my grandpa just crossed the causeway at pleasure island headed for johnson's buyou and said the water pretty and clear. Figured i let some of sabine guys know. He also the water is looks good from at the beach from where he is but he can't make out the calrity verry well. He's gonna try some at our beach house in constance beach and give me a report this evening.
BIGDADDYDAVEHJ Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 I was fishing at the beach this sunday and all i could catch was lil sharks..but ima go try walter umphrey pier thursday night and im going to see how it is down there now
tvc184 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Does the pier still draw a big crowd? I don't mind fishing there but sometimes it is elbow to elbow.
crazy_cajun02 Posted July 25, 2007 Author Report Posted July 25, 2007 is that the pier right next to the causeway? I've thought about fishing there but i always end up going to my beach house instead. Or actually my beach houses pad now.
crazy_cajun02 Posted July 25, 2007 Author Report Posted July 25, 2007 Looks it is a sweet spot and well lit. With that shallow flat extending off the sides i'm sure it holds some flounder.
tvc184 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 I have seen some real nice flounder come off of the pier. Specks school up at night under the lights when the conditions are right.
crazy_cajun02 Posted July 25, 2007 Author Report Posted July 25, 2007 Have any big bull sharks been caught? Deep channel access to the gulf it's only a matter of time. Specially once they come in to breed in the esturaies. I never really thought about them much unitl last year i had an 8 footer bump me in east bay while wadefishing. I high-tailed it out there with my stringer pulled loose in case he was hungry. Shook me up a little. Hasn't stopped from fishing there though.
change-up Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Fished sabine monday with a couple of buddies and fared well. Boxed 20 trout by 8:30. Water was clearing up well, and that light north wind made it even sweeter. Depending on the rain, im heading out again a.s.a.p.
PNG Proud Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Nice job. That's good to know. I guess the fresh water coming down hasn't hurt us....yet.
crazy_cajun02 Posted July 26, 2007 Author Report Posted July 26, 2007 Change up I sure hope you out there and wacked em' again before this rain hit. It's good to know there is some salt water trying to hold on to it's coastal claim.
change-up Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 wasn"t able to get back out before the rain, but hope the weather men are wrong.
crazy_cajun02 Posted July 27, 2007 Author Report Posted July 27, 2007 sorry bro, I been watching the GOM satelite an it's like this for a while. Its solid red and orange almost to the yucatan. I'm itching to get offshore...........
