GCCISD needs to figure out a way to get all 3 schools in same district along with BH, Dayton and Crosby....plus two others.

The few years we had GCM in the district seemed to be a good start for a fun rivalry in most of the sports.

Hearing from a Family member in the Lumberton District that the High School enrollment is right at 1,300.  Looks like they will be moving back up to 5A for the next realignment if that is accurate.

Yikes, we all knew it was probably going to happen though. They were pretty close last time right?

Hearing that there has been growth in the last few years.  District has a bond issue up in the next few weeks for additional classroom space and facilities and a tear down and rebuild of the original High School building.

It could happen, but no one will really know anything til they set the cutoff numbers.

Newton two years ago had a soph. Jv and Varsity . Last year we were down to a JV and Varsity. This year Newton has a JV and Var.  Newton's JV is two sophomores  and the rest 9 th graders. What would have been our JV are mostly on the Varsity in order to have enough to back up the varsity.

Kountze cancelled the JV game last week because of injuries on the varsity JV's moving up to the varsity.

Newton's schedule next year will include WO-S, Silsbee, Kirbyville and Woodville. They still have one slot to fill. Should be no problem next year filling the schedule as Newton will have a very young team

Lol you know people won't care about that. Still going to have trouble finding that game because you're Newton, and unless somebody thinks they have a good team and wants a test, you're not going to have a lot of takers. It's one of the problems that comes with being a good team every year...it's a good problem to have though

I had thought Silsbee might go back up to Division I. They had one of the largest numbers in 4A Division II last time. Then they had a pretty good growth last year but the senior class graduated 200 or so and the incoming freshman had only 184. Silsbee should still be one of the larger division II schools. They could well move back up next time because there are about 240 seventh graders. More Importantly Carthage was one of the smallest Division I schools. Last time they had about ten more students than Silsbee. If everyone is lucky or unlucky you could have Carthage, WOS, Silsbee and Jasper all battling in the same region once again.

I mean... is it much of a battle if Carthage is usually the top dog anyways lol

Burkeville? Just kidding🤣. I don't think it's been Newton's decision not to play. I believe it's the other side who doesn't want a game. Fine to scrimmage though 😂

I've said it before and I'll say it again.... There's no upside for a bigger school to play Newton.

It's like picking a fight in a gay bar.  If you win, you can't brag about it, but you'd better not lose.
