Nederland by two td's...the pony boys glory days are behind them when playing up.

Lol. I see after a bad year in which everyone has to admit. In which they still went 4 rounds deep. The haters are there. So there will be so many eating crow this year. Every team treats scrimmages the same way.only running a few select plays.but I'll be the first to say.wrs and QB has to get better.in which they will.but u don't see that the defense and special teams are better.so u heard it hear first.w.o and newton will be the last 2 teams playing in December.

Defense is already looking salty. If WO-S can get the passing game going I’d say they have a good shot at it.

The dogs should win with thunder and lightning in the backfield and then hit them with a pass or two in the red zone.

for me it's the same song and dance. the difference is WOS is not as intimidating.  yes when they play teams in the district and playoffs, they are better. once certain teams get it out their head that wos is some mecca of HS football( the talent imo is even across the area when it comes to nederland, png, and if they EVER played PAM).

I've been looking on KOGT to see if they are going to broadcast the game Friday night. Maybe one of the insiders could find out from Mr. Stelly. But am I right in thinking that NED is normally on KLVI? Any info would be appreciated.

I asked Gary Stelly last week as to which game he was broadcasting and he hadn't decided yet.  As far as I know, the Bulldogs' games are still being broadcast on KLVI.

Well grab a mike, you can sing and 2-step to this. From 2012-17 WOS season ended winning a state championship or losing to the state champion. Lost 8 games total, 4 to state champion, 2 to Richmond Foster, good luck with that, and PN-G and Newton. Until the 2018 debacle (only quarter finals) really hadn't heard anything from these other folk since who flung the chunk. Might be things are shifting and the mecca of HS football is human after all.

I understand his dilemma. I've heard Ned press box isn't too friendly.

Actually, I just spoke to Gary and he confirmed that he will be doing the WO-S/Nederland game.  He was just waiting to see from Nederland if the spot he uses was still there.  So we will have the link to that game up on Friday.

    • This is good info. It doesn’t really break out for student athletes though. LP & (I think) DP are open enrollment because of the way the towns intertwine. That’s the way it’s been for many years anyway. I assume it still is that way. The kids have a choice after Jr. High to go to either High School because LPISD has elementary schools in DP. As I recall, DP didn’t want to build out more (Robin Hood issues), and so DPISD & LPISD came to an arrangement because LPISD is one of the highest givers to Robin Hood in the state, and it helped both keep more funds in district. Of course, LPISD is open to all. Not just DP, and LPISD is rated well. So, I assume they have kids from elsewhere also. Not positive though. They used to have a lot because—for decades—DeWalt was the only dedicated public school in the GHA that specifically catered to special needs kids. Families from all over enrolled. But, they didn’t participate in extracurricular activities like sports. So, LP’s total enrollment made them 6A. But, they were really a 5A school all along for sports program sake. This is all as best as I can recall from when I was more involved in school issues. I’m sure a lot has changed since then. My kids have been out for 20 years.
    • Our playoff rivalry. They hold a 6-5 edge in the series. I think Newton continues the win streak in a hard fought contest. What say y’all?
    • Has Elmo gotten his aggy premature extension yet?  Pay him already because you guys were exactly right - he really does “get you.” 😂🤣
    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
