The Titans were knocked out of the playoffs in the Bi-District round by La Porte 56-27. Memorial returns 11 starters off last year’s team and should be one of the front runners for the 21-5A championship in 2007. Last year King hauled in 50 catches for 800 yards and 10 touchdowns. Coach Thompson will have to find a replacement at QB after the graduation of Davon Lewis (McNeese State). The two front runners for that job appear to be Harry Brown and Jareal Alexander. Look for tailback Patterson Clay to have a big year in 2007.Other Offensive Impact Players:Rashaud Brown (WR)Craig Bailey (WR)Glenn Windon (WR)Kevin Thomas (OL)Defensive SummaryThe Titans welcome back 5 starters from a defensive unit that gave up 31 points per game in ’06. Those numbers will need to improve for Memorial to have a shot at a district title. David Whitmore and Anthony Cockrell will be big pieces to the Titan secondary. Also keep an eye on LB Earl Hines and the DE duo of Radermon Scypion and Colby Bonton.Other Defensive Impact Players:Tonzell Eckford (LB)Memorial will begin their season with a trip to Cardinal Stadium in week 1 to face the Ozen Panthers. The non-district schedule gets tougher as the Titans welcome Aldine Nimitz to Memorial Stadium on September 14 and then travel to Houston Lamar on September 21. Key matchups on the schedule include October 19 at Baytown Lee and October 26 at home against West Brook. Mr. Buddy Garrity
If you wanna beat PAM you better have a better offense. expect them to average right around 30-40 points a game again.
