Coach Jason Thibodeaux and his Sabine Pass Sharks were just 1 win away from making the playoffs last season after losing to Evadale in week 10 and finishing with a 3-5 record. 15 starters are back for the 2007 season and they will be looking to get to the playoffs for the first time in years.

Offensive Summary

The Sharks have 8 starters back from an offense that averaged 23 points per game in 2006. Sabine Pass will have a very good backfield with TB Michael Tollett and FB Charles Clark. Last season Tollett rushed for 450 yards while Clark was the team’s leading rusher with 618 yards and 8 touchdowns. The Sharks will also be armed with a good group of WR led by Cody Almond and Josh James.

Defensive Summary

7 starters are back on the defensive side of the ball for Sabine Pass in 2007. Last season the Sharks gave up 32 points per game. With more experience this year the Shark defense should be much improved. LB Korey Arceneaux will be the defensive leader after he recorded 40 tackles last season and had one fumble returned for a touchdown. Another key player back is DT Jacob Bonin. Bonin had 38 tackles and 2 sacks last year for the Sharks. The CB duo of Ryan Nguyen and Justin Nguyen will lead the secondary.

Sabine Pass opens the 2007 season on the road in week 0 against Legacy Christian. They have a big non-district matchup on September 14 at home against Colmesneil. The Sharks close non-district play on October 5 with a trip to Burkeville. Sabine Pass will open 24-1A play on October 19 at defending 24-1A champion West Hardin.
