Man, New Caney is playing pretty good ball right now. I knew Crosby was gonna be down a little bit, but I didn't expect this game to be this lopsided. I figured it would be much closer.

I’m not taking anything away from New Caney, they have a good team, but.....Crosby was playing with a 3rd string QB who is the starting RB.  Also, Crosby dropped 3 long, wide open passes that would have been TDs.  This would have changed the game entirely.  I was however disappointed in Crosby’s overall lack of enthusiasm and play throughout the game. Tough game next with Manvel.

I agree. Crosby had a dropped touchdown on the 1st play of the game. Hit the receiver in the hands and he dropped it. Another one two plays later. I've never seen a Crosby team that didn't have at least one sure handed WR. Even with the starting QB playing I'm unsure how that corrects the lack of catching issue. Long season for the Cougars!

I know Crosby fans are disappointed with not even being able to break double digits for the first time since 2012(Rio’s first game), but look at the bright side. The 8 points Crosby scored on New Caney is probably 8 more than Prieto will be able to dial up in Brazoria County tomorrow.

On the flip side I think the district is still weak enough to win. Probably not a good thing if you want Prieto gone though. With Crosby about to turn in an enrollment over 1,900 I would imagine this is the only year he has a shot at having a respectable record before the school board starts to hear rumbling. Was in Frisco watching my son play yesterday and you truly get the grasp of how far away the 5A schools in this coverage area are.

    • Has Elmo gotten his aggy premature extension yet?  Pay him already because you guys were exactly right - he really does “get you.” 😂🤣
    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
    • SEC fan bases before Texas got there: “The horns aren’t ready for this. Every week is a battle.” SEC fan bases after Texas arrived: “Texas has the easiest SEC schedule ever!” SEC fan bases after every one of their teams has lost to one or more SEC teams from the bottom half of the standings, many of whom Texas beat comfortably: 🤐
