I'm not going to say which player it is, but he's a 3-year starter and plays both ways. Next man up though. It would just help to have him. That's apart of the game though. Quote

My only worry is depth. I hope they can bring up some freshmen to help them in blowout games, if they have any. Probably during District play they will move some people up and let them get much needed varsity experience. I really don't see much of a threat during district play. CC may have a good team but they won't be able to play with Newton. And if they move a lot of kids up to play during second half of the game it will give the bread and butter some rest. No disrespect, but I just see District play as prep for the playoffs. It's a foregone conclusion, in my mind. OleMoe and NEagles95 1 1 Quote

So never put everything into one player bc it takes a whole team to win. Quote

With that said, I see Newton being a little down, especially due to depth. I think Silsbee has a better chance at winning this game now. Though, I still have to go with Newton until proven otherwise. It just hurts not having a good player while playing good teams like Silsbee, WOS and Gilmer. If you are gonna let the cat out the bag, then pull it all the way out. 3 contributing players are out, OleMoe 1 Quote

DeuceSixSuited Posted September 5, 2019 Report Posted September 5, 2019 If people do not think losing Barlow, Foster, Brown, and Walker will hurt Newton... they are delusional. Still going to be a very very good 3A team, but I will take Silsbee in this game by 3. Quote

Good teams lose great talent all the time and them turn around and still have a perfect regular season. Newton may not be as good as last year but they are still dangerous. Fast Turtle Posted September 5, 2019 Report Posted September 5, 2019 I still believe Newton is the best 3A football team in Texas. I also believe Newton may very well lose two-three games this season between Silsbee, WOS and Gilmer. I do believe they will give all three teams hell and possibly win those games. Either way, Newton is very good and will benefit from the three mentioned teams. Go, Newton! NEagles95, Amphibious Rodent and CardinalBacker 3 Quote

They were a great team. 3A division 2 teams DO NOT lose 3 BIG TIME D1 athletes and just reload. Now, I still think Newton is one of the best 3a teams in the state. They might even win it again. That does not mean that they are still anywhere close to as good as last year. It is not possible. Quote
