Coach Blake Morrison enters his 4th season as head coach of the orange and white and will look to shake up the 21-3A waters in 2007. Coach Morrison hopes to lead the ‘Cats to a place they haven’t been since 2003, the playoffs. It will be a very tall task to get there as 21-3A is thought of by many to be one of the toughest districts in the state.

Key Wins Last Year:

Splendora (34-26)                                                                                                  Jasper (33-7)

Last Year’s Scores:

Orangefield 28 Buna 7

East Chambers 41 Orangefield 29

Orangefield 34 Splendora 26

Silsbee 35 Orangefield 27

Orangefield 33 Jasper 7

Kirbyville 40 Orangefield 26

Bridge City 28 Orangefield 18

Hamshire-Fannett 20 Orangefield 7

West Orange-Stark 40 Orangefield 13

Orangefield 45 Hardin-Jefferson 32

Offensive Summary

Last year the Bobcat offense averaged 26 points per game. The ‘Cats lost arguably one of the best quarterbacks to ever come through Orangefield in 3-year starter Bret Ramsey (Louisiana College) to graduation. Jerrod Helton will fill that spot for his senior season after playing at the receiver position last year and catching 4 touchdowns. Look for tailback Shea Mayo to make an impact on offense as well as tight end Jeremy Granger. A total of 6 starters return on the offensive side of the ball in 2007.

Other Offensive Impact Players:

Ben Dixon (OL)

Defensive Summary

Defensively Orangefield allowed 27 points per game in 2006. Many would think that having just 4 starters back on defense would cause the Bobcats to struggle on that side of the ball. However, Coach Morrison is a defensive specialist and should have the young Bobcats more than ready to compete in a district full of high powered offenses. Of the 4 starters back, defensive back Ryan Granger will be counted on heavily. Granger hauled in 6 interceptions last year and should have another great season in ’07.

Other Defensive Impact Players:

Zach Peevey (LB)

Jacob Felts (LB)

Jace Statum (DB)

The Bobcats will open the 2007 season at home against rival Buna. The following week they host last year’s 24-2A champion from East Chambers. Orangefield closes out non-district play with a road game at Splendora. A key game this year for the Bobcats will be the district opener at Silsbee. Last year’s game between the two turned out to be a classic as the Tigers narrowly escaped F.L. McClain Stadium with a win. Look for the ‘Cats to be fired up in week 7 as they travel to Bridge City for the 8th annual Bayou Bowl game. Here is the complete 2007 schedule for the Orangefield Bobcats……

Thanks etbu.  Good luck to the Falcons also.  I hate it that we are not scrimmaging this year.  Maybe next year.  Oh and as far as bobcatfan4life is concerned, that would be a full time job trying to keep him straight and I just dont have the time for that!!! ;D

I was quite proud of OF--they gave Silsbee and WO-S very good games last season.

I look for Ben Dixon to go D-1 he is quite a lineman and a good kid.

Celina and OF are very different--Celina recruits and OF just develops the kids from their neighborhood.  I would think OF would give Celina all they wanted.
