Aubry is the first announced signing of a playernot on the Wildcatters' roster during the 2006-07 season.Aubry, 30, was the cornerstone of the 2004-05 Alaska Aces team that finished first in the West Division with 98 points before falling in a seven-game Conference Final to the eventual Kelly Cup champion Trenton Titans.Aubry has spent the last two seasons in Europe and posted a .919 save percentage for the 2005-06 Challenge Cup champion Cardiff Devils of the Elite League (UK).In 2006-07 Aubry appeared in 32 of 54 fixtures for the Newcastle Vipers of the EIHL, registering a 2.96 GAA and .917 save percentage.Wildcatters Head Coach Malcolm Cameron, who has known Aubry for a number of years, spoke very highly of his new acquisition. "A goalie of Peter's caliber immediately gives us the ability to compete for the Kelly Cup. He is in the upper echelon of ECHL goaltenders. He is extremely competitive and athletic and brings a tremendous amount of playoff experience and success."'Tremendous' might also describe the physical dimensions of the Windsor, Ontario native. At 6'3" and 200 lbs., Aubry's pro resume, which includes an ECHL save percentage of .916 and GAA of 2.61 over two seasons, won't be the only imposing attribute he brings to the ice of Ford Arena when training camp begins in October.Splitting time this summer as an instructor at an elite goalie school in California and upstate New York with his wife's family, Aubry expressed his eagerness to return to the North American style of play and the prospect of playing for Cameron. "Playing in Europe has been a great experience, but I'm looking forward to returning to the type of hockey that I grew up with," he said. "Coach Cameron is a winner, it comes down to that. I've faced his teams for a number of years and I am excited to be playing for a coach that is as determined to win a championship as I am."
