Is there some financial, logistical or very good reason for the early kickoff? Would think this game garnered 2:30 status or has it always been an 11am kick? Quote

I guess it’s become a tradition. Not sure why. They do the same thing with Army-Navy and it’s usually the only game on that Saturday. UTfanatic 1 Quote

From my understanding, it's because the 11am game is considered a national game, while the 230 games are considered regional. There are a lot more games on the slate at 230 so it is plausible. Quote
