The district race last year was nip and tuck all year between Central and Dayton and it was the Broncos that came away with the championship after they beat the Jags 21-20 in Beaumont. One thing is for certain about Central, they will have speed to burn once again this year and should challenge Dayton for the district title.Key Wins Last Year:Nederland (63-24)Vidor (38-34)Barbers Hill (31-28)Last Year’s Scores:Central 21 Baytown Lee 9West Brook 17 Central 14Houston Sterling 40 Central 34Central 27 LC-M 14Central 63 Nederland 24Central 22 Lumberton 14Central 38 Vidor 34Dayton 21 Central 20Central 33 PN-G 7Central 49 Ozen 20Central 31 Barbers Hill 28La Marque 30 Central 7Offensive SummaryCoach Stowers will need to find a replacement at QB after the graduation of Brandon Williams (Texas A&M). 5 starters return to an offense that averaged 30 points per game in 2006. The biggest returning starter is RB Derrick Hall. In ’06 Hall was a dual threat, rushing for 550 yards and as a receiver had 450 yards. The offensive line will be a talented group led by Zaybrion Barnwell and Parnell Wells. Other Offensive Impact Players:Victor Spikes (WR)Charlie Thomas (RB)Defensive SummaryThe defense brings back 6 starters from a unit that allowed 24 points per game in 2006. Defensively, Central should be solid. DE Brian Davis is a pure talent. He had 55 tackles and 7 sacks last season for the Jags. Also look for DL Edward Fleming will give opposing teams trouble all year. The secondary will be lead by CB Adrian Guillory.Other Defensive Impact Players:David Mayfield (LB)Central has a tough non-district schedule to get them ready for the grueling 22-4A race. They open with 5A Baytown Lee at Zaharias Stadium on August 31. They then take a trip down the road to Lamar to face cross-town rival West Brook. The non-district schedule concludes with a trip to Houston to face Sterling. Central opens district play on September 28 @ LC-M. Many feel the 22-4A title could be up for grabs on October 26 when Central travels to Dayton to face the defending champion Broncos. BMTSoulja1 Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 And so it begins. We need a big wins in non-district to give us confidence going into district. We should have something to prove this year. That we should have been the district champs.
BMTSoulja1 Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 I love it! We get to dance with the big boys. Win or lose, a lot will be learned about ourself in these games.
KFDM COOP Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 Yea and you never know about Houston Sterling.
BMTSoulja1 Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 Yea, we ow them! I havn't forgot what they did to us in front of our fans. That was severely ugly at the begining of the 3rd. :o
AggiesAreWe Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 Ya'll will get them this year!So will my Silsbee Tigers!! ;D
shorttexas1 Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 Dave Campbell has Baytown Lee and Westbrook as the 1 and 2 team respectivily in their district. Everybody expects Lee to be a 5A powerhouse this year. Campbell also say that the Marshal/Michels backfield at Brook is the best combo in the state. So if my Jags can go [glow=red,2,300]1-1[/glow] in those two game it will be an accomplishment. If we go [glow=red,2,300]2-0[/glow] watchout 22-4A. ;D
shorttexas1 Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 Sorry guys i meant Williams/Micheals at WB!
BearWolf Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 The Micheals kid is a stud. Saw him play 5 or 6 times last year. Nice combination of speed and power.
BMTSoulja1 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 He's a barbarian! We'll have our hads full chasing him around, no doubt.
BearWolf Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 I hear that D Hall little brother is a baller also. What posiyion will he play this year?
BMTSoulja1 Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 You know, I've been hearing about his brother. He's also very fast. Not realy sure yet wat position he's playing. I will find out soon enough and let you know something.
BearWolf Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 I really believe that Central will be a hand full this year and will win district.
BigWolf10 Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 I hear that D Hall little brother is a baller also. What posiyion will he play this year?his little brother wears #9
shorttexas1 Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 I've seen halls brother play some RB, WR, LB, and safety in a Jaguar Jersy. He is bigger than Hall and I believe he could be a man on the defensive side of the ball. But he is so gifted I can't see them trying to play him some on offense.
