How's United dropping with 700 freshmen.  Or was that a bs number?

The flood took its toll greatly.  Lots of areas on this side of I-10 took the biggest hits in Beaumont.   Right after Harvey and many didn't take heed and get flood insurance.  They are done and moved.  There are many parenta in BISD that just couldn't understand the situation at United HS and wasn't  satisfied with the solution BISD came up with for the damage at the HS, so they left the district all together.

About those 700 freshmen.   That Number is correct and many more freshman due to come next year.  IMO, this is a two year hiatus  and they'll be right back in 6a numbers in 2 years.

But WB had teetered around 23 and 24 K students for 30 years now.  Theyll be fine and be back to 24 ish next realignment...

So how does Beaumont ISD lose around 600 kids?

United lost 429.5 students and West Brook lost 144.  Did a new school like an Early College HS open up or where are all the kids going?  Just hard to figure these numbers out.

..that's another thing.  They don't  count ECHS enrollment with WB or United...  that's crazy because the ECHS in Port Arthur DOES... But I don't think it's that big of a deal because the ECHS enrollment isn't high enough now to be a concern...

23 and 24 thousand eh? They should be playing small colleges, not 6A schools. 🤦🏾‍♂️

If these numbers hold true and West Sabine drops to 2A D2 do you see them going south in a district with HD, Evadale, West Hardin and Burkeville or going north in a district with Mt. Enterprise, Grapeland and Lovelady?

Probably north, I think Deweyville may drop as well. South would be Evadale, HD, West Hardin, Deweyville, Sabine Pass, Burkeville, and Colmesniel. Maybe...

Upper number for 4A D2 was 789 at last realignment.  BC turning in 796 today.  It would be nice if we could drop down to 4A D2, but I have a bad feeling we'll just stick around as the smallest school in 4AD1.

Once more, I'd rather be out-athleted by Silsbee and WOS that sat on by a bunch of fat kids in Lumberton, Livingston, Splendora, Huffman, etc....

Thats a pretty grim assessment.  The common denominator is BC losing.

Ouch.

No the numbers are correct.  600 something sophomores and 700 freshmen but the senior and junior classes are in the 300 to 400 range giving us the number reported.  Like Soulja said, it will be a drop to 5A for only 2 years before going back up to 6A with the projected freshman classes coming to BU being around 700 each year.

I had a conversation with the BISD AD prior to the game Friday night and we are both in agreement that the drop will do the school some good not only in football but volleyball, soccer, baseball and softball as well.  Give those programs and respective coaches time to build and get a few more wins under their belt before moving back up.  Girls and boys basketball and track can hold their own in 5A or 6A.

Leave early college where it's at.  I don't like the program anyway for my own personal reasons...

Burkeville - 76

West Hardin - 170

So West Hardin is up then. So South would be Evadale, HD, Deweyville, Sabine Pass, Burkeville, and Colmesneil. And that's if Burkeville doesn't decide to drop to 6-man

Saw so something posted on here a while back that high island was considering opting back up to 11 man football. I know the travel for six man teams around here is bad. So you could have a division 2 district with:

Evadale

Deweyville

HD

Colmesneil

Sabine pass

High island

Burkeville

West Hardin at 170 will be close. Cutoff last time was 161 so depends on if it goes up and by how much

With those numbers I have no idea why Burkeville doesn't play 6 man.

I heard those rumors about High Island playing 11 man as well.....

I've heard the same, but it was months ago and I haven't heard anything about it since. That would be an interesting district. And less driving for all those teams

Wow. Could be headed to 3A

Yep, and if the cut off numbers go up by 20 then Shepherd will be joining them. Football is not bad in 4A cause it has divisions, but in other sports, we play Splendora, Huffman and Livingston that are at least twice our size. We can't complete.
