Who is going to be the girls head coach. Heard rumors that melancon would leave if they hired slack.  Watched them play burkeville in the playoffs, not much of a coach, gripe at a bench player when she messes up but not a starter, laughing on the bench, like she's one of the girls.

Man nobody complained when she took them to the playoffs, funny how everyone jumps on the bandwagon and then bails to talk trash. Heard she just wanted to do track and was tired of basketball, don't blame her there.  The parents do nothing but gripe about girl's basketball and they did it when babineaux was there.  They don't do that to Cox in volleyball though.  Give it a rest, she's done a good job with the talent she had.

They don't do it to Cox. BECAUSE she actually coaches, she treats everyone the same - NO FAVORITES. SHE CALLS IT LIKE IT IS - SHE DOESN'T CARE WHO YOUR DADDY THINKS HE IS - NO FAVORITES.

Melancon acts like she is one of the girls - and you cant do that as a coach.

And since you bring up track - she does the same thing, there is no track program - THOSE GIRLS THAT WENT TO REGIONALS DID IT ON PURE TALENT, NOT BECAUSE OF ANYTHING MELANCON DID.

Volleyball - PLEASE- it was worse than basketball - temper tantrums.

Melancon will not coach basketball this next year.  Randy Birdwell will be the girls basketball coach next year.  At least that is the word.

I do not understand, in reading your earlier post you were slamming Coach Melancon's coaching and now you want her to coach.  She takes them to the playoffs for the first time in a few years and you still have nothing good to say.  Now you have your wish.  Who knows what they will get next.

Why would she want to coach second guessing her every move?  Every coach has a different style, and I guess that she does not fit your mold. She made the decision to not coach BB last year due to poor support of upper admin.  A reoccuring problem at Daisetta.

Joy Melancon is an excellent coach who gets the most out of her girls.  You are slamming her for laughing with the kids?  So a coach cannot share a laugh with their players now?  You are ridiculous.

She is a horrible coach! Swami & pheonix have obviously not observed her. The playoffs were accomplished by pure talent (Ceasar). I meant - why can't she coach them this year - she is not leaving HD. Birdwell has resigned. HD has the spots to let her coach only what she chooses. I think she knows the playoffs weren't by her doing thats why she wants out.

Coach Melancon is a good coach.  I have observed many of her games over the years.  She has grown as a coach and gotten better.  Even though a person has the title of coach, that does not mean they know everything.  Coaches learn from their sucesses and mistakes.  Experience makes a great teacher.  I bet that she learned from that lose and became better.

Yeas, Ceaser is talented.  But she does not make a whole team.  She also had slumps and  her teammates carried the team. 

I do not blame her for wanting out.  Crazy parents  and poor admin support.  One parent threatened her.  Why subject yourself to that?  This is a game, not life or death.  Dozier had no spine to do what was right.  The situation that  HD is in I guess it is better to let her coach VB and track than to be down 3 coaches.  IMO

If you think she is a horrible coach then quit whining about her coaching.  I have observed her and she does as best she can with what she is working with.  Ceasar was not dominant last year and it was a team effort to get to the playoffs.  When Ceasar gets older and decides she is going to take control of the game she will be unstoppable and it will happen.  But last year she was timid and shyed away from the ball as expected of a freshman.  So coaching was a big part of the playoffs last year and so was the rest of the team.  But as the phoenix said being threatened at a game is not worth it if the admin will not stand up for you.  So you can quit complaining about her coaching and use that energy to hope they get another coach who actually cares about the girls program and plead that they don't just stick a football coach in there that doesn't want to be there.

Well said Swaimi.  Heard the position is being posted as a Var FB coach/Girls BB.  I hope that they get a BB coach.

Let it go, there are lots of good coaches that have come through Daisetta and left due to upper administration.  Good luck with what your left with, coaches can't coach when parents try to run the show. When do you think some of these parents will go get a degree and try it themselves? They won't they will keep coaching little dribbler's and claim to be a coach.

Just be thankful that somebody wants to try and coach the kids and be a positive role model for them.
