Crosby vs Huntsville

Area round game from Randall Reed Stadium in New Caney 11/23 @2pm

I guess Code Red ain’t dead? Coming off a game where they set the school playoff scoring record (70) Crosby draws the #4 seed from district 10-5A in the Huntsville Hornets. Huntsville knocked off undefeated district champion Marshall from 9-5A in the opening round.

Matchup wise I think this one is pretty simple. Huntsville has two three star prospects in the front seven and two 270+ pound defensive linemen to pair with them. If Crosby can run the ball the way they have the last three weeks they’re probably going to win the game. It’s going to look a lot like what we faced against Manvel so it’s a tall order regardless and probably the first time Crosby feels the loss of who I think was our best offensive lineman. If Crosby can limit the penalties and turnovers they should have some success on Huntsville’s defense. It’s good but it’s not T’Vondre Sweat good anymore.

Offensively I think it’s safe to say Huntsville is qb driven. Their offense isn’t as good as the regional final team last year but it could be a bad matchup for Crosby. QB is the coach’s son and very good at running the offense plus he’s played in big games during their run last season.  I believe he was hurt a few games ago and came back against Marshall last week. QB will run even less than the one from FBW but gets it out of his hand quick to some solid receivers. Just not real sure how to feel about facing a pass-heavy team after giving up 476 to FBW’s qb in basically three quarters?

I’m hoping for a Cougar win and plan to go to this one, but I think this may be the end of the road for Crosby. The Hornets just put an undefeated good Marshal team to bed and they are a well coached discipline team. Anything can happen with some breaks here and there, but I think the Hornets are at least a 14 point favorite in this one.

42-27 crosby takes this one, I think even with the pass heavy Huntsville crosby makes the adjustments needed and moves on to rd 3

Crosby is playing well, and I appreciate your optimism.  Who are the best defenses in Crosby’s district?  Maybe Barbers Hill, or PNG.  Crosby scores 7 on BH and 13 on PNG.  Yet, the Coogs are going to drop 42 on Huntsville.  The most points Huntsville has given up all year is 29 and they have played 6 playoff teams.  Most likely, the Huntsville DL will be living in the Crosby backfield and Code Red will be looking to make a Code Blue.  Huntsville wins this one.

After some thought, 42 may be far fetched.. we will add another 3 from our all state kicker. Make it 45...  i dont too much care what/who they played last week or any other week this season for that matter, I'm living in the NOW, we looked to be following in the same path as last year after our rocky start, and a loss to the 2nd worse team in district (all respect Vidor Nation) now all of the sudden we found light and are firing on 3/4 cylinders. I say if we can tighten up on the passing D then we have a really great shot at not only pounding the Hornets but hanging FORTYFIVE on em to!

The biggest factor in this and future Crosby games for the year has been the resilience of the new coach and how that transferred to the team. This team was picked on From all the negative town rumors, truths, and Paul Bunyan tales, to the tough predistrict schedule and finally the farce of getting the quarterback ready. I predicted after the Manvel game that the coogs would win district if the quarterback gains eligibility by the start of district. Well it didn’t happen and they sputtered, but still got 2nd in a still TOUGH district. At this time of the year, playoff teams are cutting back practice times to get kids well. Crosby is just getting their starters playing together and I do mean the quarterback. I believe they’ll get better each week and the attitude of both the team and town is skyrocketing. This team could be , could be( I haven’t looked at bracket positions yet) one to rep the region. They are lowkeyed and everyone has discounted them since they lost the supposed inventor of offensive football😏. I know nothing about them hornets other than a guy namedLloyd Archie was a stud for them in 78 when a small Ukrainian named berezoski was controlling the front for your Marlin Bulldogs.  I’m blind nello saying Crosby by 14. What does that California site say— probably hornets by 10, well California sucks. Good night.

I lost brain cells earlier. Geez wth. Anyway, Hornets by 20+

I'm with ya Buddy,  what brain cells i did have are now fried after reading CB'S logic.

I would like to see the Coogs win , but I think Huntsville is too strong.  They got their QB back  last week from what I have read, so he is obviously a difference maker.

As cliched as it sounds, this is a different team than the team that started the year.  I went to NC, Dayton, and the Willowridge game.  The teams were different in all three. I have no idea what to expect.

If they can play as well as they did against Willowridge and catch a couple breaks....basically if the Football Gods shine on Crosby instead of Huntsville...then they move on to Rd3.

And Crosby’s offense only got one touchdown against PNG, the other was on a fumble recovery. To be fair, however, Crosby seems to be playing better. A whole different team. So who knows. I still think Huntsville wins it. The defense is too good.

Two teams come in, one team leaves.

BTW Crosby just gave Huntsville a butt load of new film in this last game. Crosby did things against FBW that I hadn't seen them do all year.

It felt very Flannigan the holding back parts of the offense until playoffs.

No clue how this one goes but let's have a game.

The biggest detractors against Crosby this season have been Crosby fans themselves. I’ve never seen a fan base get so immediately hostile to a program. It’s like Crosby’s ability to keep people excited about football is directly related to Crosby’s ability to manage a budget.

You’re talking about one or two idiots who were immediately and unequivocally lambasted from all sides, most forcefully by PNG fans. And you’re talking about a fanbase that has been loyal for nearly a century, through all kinds of success and failure. Crosby had about five minutes of success and became so unbearably obnoxious that it’s now something of a joke; then Crosby had about five minutes of failure and collectively lost its mind. Now things are looking ok and suddenly it’s the Mecca all over again.
And, it’s not a glass house, it’s a teepee, and it’s holding up fine. Good luck in the playoffs, we’ll always be back next year.

All success to Crosby come Friday.
