But since the arrival of coach Stan Hodges a few years ago, a new attitude is brewing up in Lion Country. Last season Kountze got a few quality wins and will look to build on that heading into the 2007 season.Key Wins Last Year:Anahuac (31-6)Hardin (48-28)Last Year’s Scores:Kountze 42 High Island 0Hull-Daisetta 22 Kountze 0Kountze 13 Evadale 7West Hardin 45 Kountze 25Warren 19 Kountze 3Kountze 31 Anahuac 6Buna 49 Kountze 0Kountze 48 Hardin 28East Chambers 35 Kountze 14Deweyville 31 Kountze 7Offensive SummaryLast season Kountze averaged 18 points per game. The QB job in 2007 appears to be coming down to either Neal Batman or Domingo Smith. Back to man his RB position is Dontae Barnes. Last season Barnes rushed for 670 yards and 6 touchdowns. OT Deric Puckitt, OT Tanner Hughes and C Colt Ambrose will be leaders on the offensive line. Look for Kountze to also have a pretty good group of receivers led by Stephen Gerhard.Other Offensive Impact Players:Joe Turner (WR)Defensive SummaryKountze should have a very good defense in 2007. Last year the Lions allowed 24 points per game. They do have a lot of experience back including 3 All-District picks. FS Thomas Walcott had 3 interceptions last season and was a First Team All-District pick and is a 4-year starter for the Lions. Another returner, DE Chad Morrison, was also a First Team pick and had 99 tackles last season. Look for Kountze to have some good linebackers in 2007 including Devon Wise and Josh Haynes.Other Defensive Impact Players:Jared Kemp (DE)Kountze opens the season with a home date in week 0 against 20-1A member Tenaha. Their other 3 non-district games are against 24-1A members Hull-Diasetta, Evadale and West Hardin. Kountze opens 24-2A play on September 28 at home against the Warren Warriors. warfan
I was impressed with the speed of their 7 on 7 team. They should have a good season when they get settled on a QB.
TopDawG52
yes i think the QB will End up being the Jr Domingo Smith because he is a much better passer and makes smarter Decisions then Neal Batman but Size is What Domingo Lacks...Thats why its going to be a battle for the Starting Job until week
Guest JGLB55
yea your right, I didnt wont to say it but its right. Neal Is a good QB but Mingo has better vision and is more aware, and the boy can move, not fast but untouchable. During 7 on 7 he showed a lot of promise to be our starter this year. There was just some mistakes that happened at the game and poor refin on kountze...trust me if they didnt make those mistakes and that cheap shots that they were doin...kountze would have had the ball game...
