Alto.

Recommended Posts

Alto does have an awesome program but the problem that these small schools run into against a big school is that they usually have some good athletes in the backfield that can stay away from another small schools strengths on defense by running the other way. Its tough for such a small school to have 5 big and talented lineman that can keep a bigger schools defensive players out of the backfield disrupting the offense. No disrespect but Alto could not hang with any decent average 4A school.

NED, BC (bay city) JT (cujo) should i go on?

Yes, please do go on because I still am not convinced.  Alto would be spread to thin against teams with more numbers and athletes just as talented.  Don't get me wrong, I think they proved last year that they had one of the most dominating teams in history...but there is a big difference between a powerhouse 1A team and a powerhouse 4A team.

You do not play the game on paper or the computer, you play it on the field.

Alto has good 1A talent when you start playing against larger schools you are going to run into the numbers game.

Most 1A players have to play on both sides of the ball and will be eventualy be worn down.

Alto could not compete with 3A or 4A schools.

OK guys, being an Alto fan, I know whats realistic and what's not.  NO, a 1a team could not hang with a 4a powerhouse, although I will say Alto had players last year that could have started at the 5a level.  These guys were that good.  I do think Alto could hang with the majority of 3a schools in the area, with the exception of the Liberty Eylaus, Gilmers, WOS, ect.  I saw Rusk, Mabank, and a few other 3a's last year, and I think Alto could have beaten all of them.  When Alto was 2a, they played the likes of Diboll, Kirbyville, Tatum, Center, and others regularly and won, sometimes in a blowout.  Alto had one of them teams last year that only comes around so often.  Alto had a tough passing attack last year that teams could not much up to with the size and speed.

I think Alto would have gone a long ways in the 2a playoffs had we not dropped.  I know you can't compare teams by scores, but East Chambers was 10-0 and had to fight to beat Hemphill in the 1st round and Alto blew Hemphill out of their home stadium 42-0 ( and it could have been a lot worse ).

I watched Alto play Hemphill last year and it was a mismatch. I am from Newton and I am sure glad we did not have to play them. They were that good. They could have hung with most 3A and a lot of 4A school. They were that good. I think they have all their defense back and boy can they hit. The Hemphill game could have easily been 54 to zip. Alto played their second team and it looked just as good as the first team. No one will beat them this year.
