KFDM COOP Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 kogtWith Brett Ramsey gone after three years of starting at QB, the Orangefield Bobcats are looking for a new signal caller. Jared Helton (right) got most of the snaps in 7-on-7 games but Jeremy Granger is also challenging for the spot.
Cat22 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Is the Granger kid related to Jeff?No they are not related.
Cat22 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 I think it's Heltons job to lose. He's not as big as Granger, but is faster and he fits our offense better than Granger does right now.
cardinal81o7 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 helton spent the last two seasons playing receiver and return man along w/ corner...hes pretty fast and should be able to run the option a little better than ramsey but im not certain about his throwing
Cat22 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 How big is Granger?I would say Granger is about 6'3" 185.
TXBaseball Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 I'm not sure who it should or should not be, but I'd be almost willing to bet that it ends up Granger.
WOS92 Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 How tall is the helton kid? He looks extremely undersized, but it's not a very good shot to judge that from. Just going by that pic, though, he looks around 5'4. Still, pics can play tricks.
1KatKiller Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Helton is a great kid, hard worker, but he is not a QB, he MAY be able to run the option as well/better than Ramsey, we'll see. He has alot of trouble throwing the Football. Period. He does not have a strong arm and does not have the reps to be comfortable enough to make the reads for the passing game, in the blink of an eye. Orangefield will struggle offensively. Granger is not the answer either. He is slow, immobile and just flat out is not a QB. They need a move-in like a dead man needs a coffin, BAD!!! I'm not trying to bash or be negative, just giving my opinion,I'm a whole lot closer to that situation than most of you.

He's not as big as Ramsey, but is faster. He'll do fine.
FlyLikeAnEagle Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 I think both are great kids, but Helton has all the intangibles, he is very football smart, he has alot of guts, and he is flat out a good football player. I also think Helton has the skills to be a leader in the huddle. I look for him and the 'cats to have a good year in 07.
