Of course you would....Does not mean that you are RIGHT, but of course you would pick Southerland over Boutte....I mean, Boutte has a 84% winning percentage, 3 state titles (at 2 different schools) and 9 state tourney appearances in 18 years....that means nothing, right?...Todd is a GREAT coach, too..He has taken 3 schools to the dance, won 2 titles with 2 different teams...Great person as well...It's like comparing Coach K at Duke and Louisville's Rick Pitino....that would be a tough one as well...It would be difficult to choose one over the other..That's my point. ;)

Boutte is in 4A...Did you mean Joubert in 2A?

Southerland has had less talent because he has only coached in 2A and 3A versus LESS TALENT....Not to minimize what he has done, but you cannot minimize what Boutte has done at the 4A level either....ESPECIALLY in 06-07....Another great job was when he took PA Lincoln to the state finals with a bunch of midgets in 93 (6'3" post man was the tallest guy) and lost to Dallas Lincoln on a missed FT, and they had 2- 6'9" MONSTERS at Dallas Lincoln!!

When you look at these list it's no surprise why there are always local teams at the drum. Two small school coaches who are often overlooked are Hank Hargraves from EC and Cris Carter from Warren.Hank did a great job the past 3 years but was unfortunate to have Kountze in his region(and district)while Carter has 2 stae appearances and 1 championship on his resume. He also notched his 500th carrer win last year and is still fairly young as a coach. Both these guys do very well with the hand they are given.
