Ozen Panthers

A new coach and a new attitude may be just what the doctor ordered for the Ozen Panthers. After going a disappointing 1-9 last year Ozen can only get better. Ozen hired former Central offensive coordinator Ishan Rison to lead a Panther program that suffered through its worst season in school history in 2006.

Key Wins Last Year:

Lumberton (26-16)

Last Year’s Scores:

West Brook 35 Ozen 14

PA Memorial 31 Ozen 27

Seguin 32 Ozen 7

PN-G 31 Ozen 15

Dayton 48 Ozen 6

LC-M 33 Ozen 0

Nederland 35 Ozen 16

Ozen 26 Lumberton 16

Vidor 28 Ozen 27

Central 49 Ozen 20

Offensive Summary

Ozen returns 4 starters off last year’s unit that averaged 16 points per game. Expect QB Chris Ragget to take over for the departed London Durham (McNeese State). The success of the offense in 2007 could rely heavily on how well the offensive line performs. The offensive front will be led by Patrick May and Devon Stelly. Also watch for WR Cameron Ball to make an impact on offense.

Defensive Summary

Over half the defense returns for 2007 as 6 starters are back on that side of the ball. Last season the Ozen defense allowed 34 points per game. If the Panthers hope to make an impact this year they will need for the defense to improve that number significantly. Key players back that will hope to change that include DE Jimmie Johnson, LB Justin Isadore and DB Brean Johnson. Also look for big things out of the defensive line led by Steven Lee and Ben Taylor.

Other Defensive Impact Players:

Matthew Burgin (LB)

The Ozen Panthers play one of the toughest non-district schedules in the area. They open with back to back games against our local 5A teams West Brook and Memorial. They close non-district with Seguin at Clear Lake. The Panthers open 22-4A play on September 28 at home against PN-G. Here is the complete 2007 schedule for the Ozen Panthers……

well if they can survive the blowouts that are going to happen the first 2 games they should be ok.

I don't think either will be blowouts.  Unless both have tighten their run defenses, could be some close games.  With WB having to answer questions @QB, that game may be nothing but running....
