Beachbum Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Rumor has it Chester is not playing 11 man football this year??? Any info
RETIREDFAN1 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Chester will be playing this season. They have a new coach and about 20 kids out from what I've heard.
JCfan Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Cfan1 is right from what I have heard. They will try to play this season and take another look I would assume from year to year, but school numbers are way down. Indutries that always drew people and kept hometowners around have deminished and numbers are down over the past ten years. I wish they could play six man, but travel expenses might be a concern there. We'll see.
Guest ECBucFan Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 It'a an uphill battle at Chester for 11 man football. I wish for those kids sake their numbers were better. I really admire the players who continue to fight hard, despite being shorthanded, numberwise. Best wishes, Chester.
dav-joel Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 Chester seems to be in the same boat that sabine Pass was several years ago.Spurger and Brookeland don't play either??
Guest ECBucFan Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 I really admire the guys (and programs) who stick it out! When these players look back, they will have great memories that last a lifetime, regardless what the scores/records were. Best wishes, Chester.
gdickert Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 I know from my time at The Enterprise that Spurger and Brookeland always celebrate homecoming during basketball season. ... Kind of an oddity around here. My wife, who is from up north, says her high school celebrated homecoming during soccer season.
warfan Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 You have to admire the Chester boys. I know some of them and they are great kids with big hearts. It'll be a tough year and I wish them the best.
DP#1FAN Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Best of luck to Chester. My hats off to the young men playing you have my respect.
rmac Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 Chester plays their first game Sept 14 against Simms Bowie. It looks like to me there are enough small schools in this part of the country to have some 6 man districts.
