All was well in Pirate Country last year after Vidor knocked off Nederland 28-24 and hoped to start their push to the playoffs. However, 2006 would not be their year as they went on to lose 5 of their last 6 games and finish a disappointing 3-7. Coach Jeff Mathews has a solid 12 starters back for 2007 and hopes that this will be the year the Pirates are seen in the postseason again.

The defensive leader for Vidor is the above mentioned Brett Harris who had 5 interceptions at his DB position and was selected first-team all district DB. The linebackers will be solid with James Laramore and Jordan Dowers leading the way. The defensive front is led by NG Chase Ferguson, DT Tim Dycus and DT Blake Whitaker.
