I just saw this Saturday my #1 and #2 will be facing off! Should be a great game!

Gonna be a heck of a game...

And just for the sake of debate.  How do you put Jasper over United and they've beaten them?  Also, H-J has quite a few losses.  More than United and Jasper...Was it because H-J played those 6a teams?

Aren't head to head results usually one of the first things used in tie breaking scenarios? In that line of thinking, strength of schedule is sometimes used as a factor as well, although it is a less concrete and therefore more subjective "stat".

Using the head to head criteria where United beat Jasper, Barbers Hill also defeated Jasper in the defacto Championship Game of the Lumberton Tournament. HJ will play Jasper this Saturday, so that will clear picture up even more.

Would love to see a United vs HJ matchup so I wouldn't have to try to use each team's strength of schedule to determine a ranking edge.

Based on this point in the season, I think the Top 5 on this list could be in arranged in several different configurations that could be plausibly argued.

Any second 5 (i.e. spots 6-10) on this list are several notches down from any teams listed in the Top 5 of this list.

Lastly imo, I would replace Lumberton with PNG, just because I know OneChance just didn't want to put his home team on this list himself and Lumberton doesn't need any attention in their direction.... 😏

Great way to look at it.

HJ has played the TOUGHEST schedule in the area.  Their losses have been to teams who all can make deep playoff runs in 5a or 6a and they have a loss to a top 10 state ranked and nationally ranked team from California.

I would put United ahead of Jasper not based off wins and losses but because of body of work,  United has played the tougher schedule.  I kinda look at it from the standpoint of....what would United and HJ's record be if they played Jasper's schedule and vice versa.  No diss to Jasper because they are legit but just a thought.  Cant wait to see the matchup on Saturday!

Partly because I am more familiar with those two teams, I had a hard time put down 1-3 in any order. I am familiar with the Junior guards on United and don’t feel like they would match up well against HJ, but I know there are some sophomore guards I am not familiar with at all.

Those Jr. Guards are ok, but it's the sophomore guard and post that's the heartbeat of this team...

That was just me playing around, striking up some convo.
United beat Jasper in a scrimmage, when Jasper didn’t have all of their players.

Jasper lost to BH by 1 in Lumberton tourney and lost to Woodville by 6 in Splendora tourney, so I could see

HJ, United, Woodville, BH, Jasper as 1-5 based on head to head. Like I said I had a hard time 1 thru 3, but actually 1 thru 5 was tough, I think they are all clearly head and shoulders above any other local team.

I realize it just little ole legacy but we are the smallest possible school in the area and we have gone 2/2 with your top 10. Beating Tarkington and LCM. We’ve also played Jasper, Westbrook, The Village(who beat HJ) and Houston St. Agnes(ranked 9th in 6A). We’ve also played #8 in TAPPS Lutheran North (ranked 8th in 4A). Our schedule has been one of the toughest in the area as well. Don’t count us out. Go Warriors! Oh btw we are currently ranked #5 in the state and we have not started district. We have 6 freshman and 2 juniors.

Great post. I think this is why OneChance started this thread. To get some good old debate going and to give some recognition to all the hard working young ladies in the SETX area. Legacy has indeed played a very hard pre-district schedule. Good luck to them as they move into district play.

Legacy definitely has played a tough schedule and should be recognized.  They have a great coach and some nice pieces that will certainly take them deep into the playoffs.  If we are considering head to head matchups then they have to be somewhere on the list, also their strength of schedule has to be noted even tho they have had some lop sided losses.  Considering their youth this is all part of the process.

It’s not a knock on Legacy, I just looked at who I thought was playing better basketball right now, and with nobody posting about Legacy on here it’s hard to judge them.

Pretty much every team 6 thru probably 15 in the area could probably beat each other. Orangefield beat PNG really easy two times in a week or two weeks time span, OF seemed to have easy, but when you look at shooting % OF shot lights out and PNG shooting % was probably in the teens. I think in a best out of 7 series right now, OF still wins it, but PNG could probably win 2-3 times. LCM beat PNG in Evadale tournament, but I think PNG would probably win 4 or 5 times out of 7 times played.

With all that being said, the teams that fall 6 and after are not consistent teams, that doesn’t mean they don’t have good players or bad teams, they just aren’t elite like 1-4 are. Number 5 WB, would probably lose a vast majority of games to 1-4 And could probably pull an upset, but probably wins a vast majority of games against 6 and above.

That was part of my post to Warrior1's original post, where THEY were discussing the Legacy Christian Warriors. I was commenting to that, I was not saying anything related to Warren.
